Re: Z Axis 1" problem

Thanks for the response.? I looked in my Config > Tooltable and it is completely "Empty"

Do you have a 1" tool offset defined for that tool? If so, set it to 0. Look at the height column in Config->tooltable.

Re: Need more inputs - 2nd Parallel port?

I found this...
It comes with a cd that has the XP drivers ...14 bucks and I got my extra inputs ...It is a cheap quick solution if mach3 sees it... I want to get some
cnc router experience under my belt before I plunge into the next level upgrade ...(spindle, 4th axis)....still not sure how the touch plate gets wired
to the 2nd port, Would a dp25 male connector with two wires one on the ground and one on pin 2 - 9 do the trick?

I use the “C62” BOB from CNC4PC.com

Works great.?

I ran into that exact problem.? The second parallel port card I bought doesn't have a driver for WIN-XP and I don’t want to start ordering all sorts that might or might not work.?

?

My USB Smooth stepper borrowed from the CNC router _does_ work and would provide the second port that I will need but it's for the CNC Router.?

?

So for the milling machine I have to decide if I want to order an Ethernet USB Smooth Stepper ($180) or just continue to use the dual boot on this PC and use the Ethernet MESA 7i92H ($89) with LinuxCNC.

?

At the moment while I'm evaluating and doing the conversion I've stayed with one parallel port cable into the PMDX-126 BoB and use the dual boot to use either system.

Go for something like a Smooth Stepper. It will give you the equivalent of 2 parallel ports and is upwardly compatible with later versions of windows so will save you going through all this again when your XP system fails and can’t be replaced. A second parallel port for XP is probably going to need drivers that are hard to get and then hard to get working with Mach software. There are alternatives to Smooth steppers but if you want to use spindle positioning to trigger movement for threading or other purposes then check carefully that they have the features you require.

I like the PMDX-126 (the CNC router has the older PMDX-125).

This would be my first choice but here in the UK they hit you hard on import tax.

For the ESS, I prefer the MB3 from CNC Room.

You can go to the SmoothStepper website to see the many breakout boards that work splendidly with the SmoothStepper. ?With that said I installed a SmoothStepper into my old Chinese CNC router system with a no name BOB and it worked fine.

Need more inputs - 2nd Parallel port?

I ran out of inputs on my C35SR1.2 breakout and read somewhere you can add another parallel card and use the 2 thru 9 pins. My question is, can i use the 2nd port directly and wire my input straight from that port and get it to trigger a touch plate in mach3? I tried piggybacking my z wire but I have to lose my z limit to proceed with the auto zero features. If this is the case any recommendations on what card to get? I'm running on an older XP gateway pc.... I'm still a newbee trying to tame my FLA 2*4

?I ran into the subject problem and did a search on Google and a solution came up?
I tried it and it solved the problem. The only issue I had with the fix was that you have to run the fix as the administrator and at first that was a problem but eventually figured out that to run a cmd line as the administration I had to press Cntrl+Shift plus enter. The I copied and pasted the fixes as decribed and it now mach3 no longer reboots when from the optional devices I select the Parallel Port.

You said one of your Y axis motors doesn't run. Did you check that slavingis setup in the config file?

Re: Mach3 One stepper motor won't move

are you using the same breakout board or interface? have you compared the motor setting from the old and new computer? could you have wrong pin assignments on the new computer? check every setting. something is wrong. check signal polarities etc etc.?

Everything on the Mach3 diagnostics screen looks good as far as I can see. I know everything is good on the machine is good it works on the old computer.

Have you checked for any diagnostics on said stepper motor?
Done them?

Results?
