This thread, saved files, was started at 2:33 pm October 20th, according to my history.?
You had another thread, recently opened, you started October 16. I don't see where anyone responded to it, but you didn't really ask anything but if there were updates to Mach4.?
I'd suggest if you want answers, you ask an overt question. Might work better for you. Unfortunately, I can't answer them because I don't yet have Mach in any version. Just sort of following along wondering if it would do anything I need done in the future.

I very much
doubt Mach4 does this,
If the list

you can do is delete all of the
files, then save the Key (registry
folder) to a file (will have a reg

vcarve may have options as to step size? with some exceptions
related to trajectory planning in mach 4 i have found that mach 4
produces smoother cuts. however i think the biggest change was
switching to ethernet smooth stepper.
also you need to control chip load by varying motion speed and
tool speed.? also need to be sure both the material hold down and
the machine in general are rigid. different woods are different
and cut differently. some wood is especially difficult to cut
smoothly due to variations in hardness and grain.
also tool quality is very important. i get much smoother cuts
with high quality US made tools such as Eastside

look into Vcarve (smaller bit or larger spaced text) since the pictures show the bit wouldn't fit in a couple of thos areas. but you'll also have to look at your machine since pic 2 and 3 shows lost position on the lower level cut.

I very much doubt Mach4
does this,
If the list does wind up

Re: [MachCNC] saved files
I meant some programs let
you clear the list, eg in MS Office you can
right-click the list and it'll have a "Clear
recents" option, something like that.
I very much doubt Mach4
does this,
If the list does wind up in
the registry, what you can do is delete all of
the files, then save the Key (registry folder)
to a file (will have a reg extension).? If you
then open that file in the future it will ask
if you want to replace the current Key with
it, thus clearing the list.
Oh, and before I said to
search for 'Values' in the registry, should
have said 'Data'.
?
what is this "occasional program" and
where do i get it?

Of course given
the Mach devs don't have much of a
clue about where you are supposed to
put stuff (C;\Mach4? Sure!), their
list could be anywhere, but probably
in the install folder where
they?dump everything else.
Use regedit to
search for one of the files on the
list, it can search for 3 types of
things so just leave 'Value'
ticked.? Try a partial match as
well.? This will be a bit slow as
Values aren't indexed..
The reasons why
no-one clears out the list is
because it wastes time, and the
files may only be temporarily
unavailable (different flash drive,
network drive etc) so wiping the
'dead' ones will annoy a different
bunch of people.? There is the
occasional program that'll let you
clear the list, not all that common.

easier to have a working folder
and do
the management yourself, where is
this list found and can it be

or better yet why cant mach4
automatically delete files that
are nor found ?

Dedicated controls, they're pretty cheap these days.? Toss a bit of gcode at them and off they go, I'm tired of dicking about with PCs.
Mostly SmoothieBoards, they'll run a mill/router, laser, 3D printer & lathe without too much hassle.? A couple of the lasers still have the original DSP controllers, too lazy to change them.
There's a cheap Chinese one people seem to like for mills/routers that I might get one of these days.

What secret?? No-one cares.

I¡¯ve put MRU lists into just about
everything I¡¯ve ever written, and never once put in an
option to clear it, nor did any one ask.? It really is a
very low priority.? Hell, I remember when MRUs became the
big new thing, lol.

Not surprised the MRU isn¡¯t in the
registry, the Mach dev are still living in the DOS days.?
Given that as before take a rummage thru the Mach4 folder,
there will be some sort of setting files (,ini, .dat?) that
has the list.? The modified date should be recent as it¡¯ll
be edited every time you fire up Mach4.? Whether you can
write a little script to modify that, who knows.

Wouldn¡¯t surprise me if it¡¯s tacked onto

File a request with the Mach devs,

and why is this a well kept secret? the recent files list
is bullshit without the ability to edit it.
right clicking does nothing nor can i find the files in
the registry. it i a severe lack to not allow users to get
rid of this garbage if they want to. i understand the fat
that some people might want to keep files from external
sources in the list but what about those who want to get
rid of the garbage. there has to be a way to get rid of
this or clear the whole cache.
