What is too high and what if any are the implications of a lower kernel speed?

I have the same problem since I fitted ESS a month or two ago to my
Mach3 setup. It happens when I use the high speed jog (Shift Up,Down, Left,
Right,PgUp, PgDn). So far it has only happened on the X axis. I thought
it might be something like a buffer over-run since it only seemed to happen
when I was doing a longish jog. I reduced the repeat key speed on my
keyboard to the lowest setting but it still happens on occasion.
Thankfully so far no damage has been done since EStop and the limit
switches still operate and it normally happens when I'm setting things up when the cutter
is raised above the work. I've dug around a bit on the Internet to see if
someone else has the same problem, but no luck so far.
