Less seriously, I remember reading that there was a flag in the
D-STAR data stream that identified the CODEC in use. Clearly, this
might be of benefit to those of us who like D-STAR but don't care for
having to use DVSI's IP.

I realize that this does not mean "interoperability!" and that it
would effectively (I think) split D-STAR into "A" and "B" depending on
which CODEC was in use but it's still an interesting possibility.

Problem is, I can't find where that flag was discussed. I have dug up
some D-STAR docs (JARL, TAPR, et al) but not seeing a flag that says
"CODEC".

This beeping any beepers with anyone?
