No. The term illegal immigrant does not mean an immigrant who is exempt from legal restrictions. It refers?to a trespasser?who probably should not be encouraged to polish his skills by taking new steps in his career. Illegal immigrants should be allowed to turn themselves in to the Border Patrol, thus achieving a form of shelter from the experts.

Sorry, Celeste. We were discussing why I worded a question a certain way and I referred to you as my inspiration and motivation for doing so as too?literal an interpretation of the question would have bypass the fundamental point I was trying to emphasize. The point I was hoping for would involve a proactive elaboration, but my initial wording became a little convoluted after I tried to illustrate?that?I was after a broad definition of human life vs. animal life rather than a specific individual human life vs a specific individual animal's. You often toss back questions that are unclearly worded and I remembered this as I was seeking the best format for my question.

1.? Should illegal immigrants be allowed to occupy vacant homes without the permission of the owner?

Absolutely not. But apparently they do in NY, which has “squatter’s rights”, which can make it next to impossible for a homeowner to evict or remove a squatter from their property.

2,? Should individual states be allowed to arrest illegal immigrants for trespassing?

Yes. Isn’t this already done? (well, isn’t it done everywhere except for NY which has squatter’s rights?)

3.? Should the US laws be reciprocal toward visitors or immigrants to the degree that their home counties are to US visitors or immigrants?

I think it should be a strong consideration (but not the only consideration), perhaps reciprocallity decided on a country by country basis.

4.? The Baltimore bridge collapse - what happened?

It appears that just like with the Titanic, a litany of bad decisions, bad circumstances, and bad timing led to the bridge collapse. But how amazing/what a blessing, that only 6 people died, as this disaster could have been far, far worse.

5.? ?Should the owner of the ship or the company that chartered it be held liable for the replacement cost?

Yes, they should. At least they bare partial blame….other blame could potentially lie with the MD pilots and perhaps lack of modernization/upkeep with the bridge. Realistically though…..the owner of the ship/company will just declare bankruptcy and not pay (assuming there was any realistic way to make an company in another country pay up.)

<< On second thought, if I voted Democrat they'd probably let me do it multiple times. >>

Change that to Republican, and you would be correct. Of all the instances of voter fraud found in 2020 & 2022, they were all Republican. In fact, I just heard of another case this week, the Gorgia GOP Vice Chairman none less, Brian K Pritchard, was convicted of voting 9 times, even though he was not legally allowed to vote. Different states, but interesting that he gets a measly $5000 fine, while Crystal Mason (a democrat) was given 5 years in prison voting even though she was not legally allowed to vote, back in 2016.

Fortunately, there are so many different safeguards built into the US process, it is virtually impossible for anyone to get away with voter fraud.

<<Why do they call it a "3rd party candidate"? >>

Because there are minor parties in the US, and people running in those parties are called “3rd party candidates.” This is separate from people, such as RFK JR who run as independents, without any party affiliation. In the US, the Libertarian and the Green party usually get on most or all of the ballots in the 50 states, and are considered major 3rd parties. This year its expected that Jill Stein will once again get the nomination for the Green Party (she previously ran in 2012 & 2016.) ?Charles Baillay seems to be the frontrunner for the Libertarian Party nomination>
Very minor 3rd parties in the US, that often don’t even get on the ballots in enough states to theoretically win, are parties such as the Constitution party, Unity Party, and No Labels party (there are many other 3rd parties that have little name recognition outside of the state they were formed in.)

I view disinformation as someone purposely spreading lies for their own nefarious purposes. As opposed to misinformation, where someone is spreading lies, but they themselves actually believe the lies.

2.? Should the US unilaterally intervene in Haiti?

Probably not. To some extent the current problems can be traced back to the US using Haiti as their dumping ground for lead garbage, so I think we should help them out. But I don’t know that unilaterally intervening is the best way to help them.

3.? Who is to blame for the famine crisis in Gaza?

Britain for setting up Israel in 1948 without adequate buy-in from the people already living there. The current situation now….there is not enough farmland in Gaza to support the people living there. An area that has to rely on food imports will always be very precarious at best.

4.? What 20th century genocide killed the highest portion of the single countries population?

I’d guess Pol Pot in Cambodia….But I suspect North Korea comes close, although they are so closeted and the genocide so on-going over decades, that its hard to know the true picture of what is happening there.

1.? Should illegal immigrants be allowed to occupy vacant homes without the permission of the owner?

I am sometimes staring at these questions for a really long moment, perhaps seeking the joke or the trick hidden in them!

In this case, my knee-jerk response was "Only when I can, too!"

2,? Should individual states be allowed to arrest illegal immigrants for trespassing?

I cannot see why not. Despite immigration being?a federal purview, local law enforcement are often supporting?federal agencies. I would even go so far as to say that any law enforcement agent has a duty to make such an arrest.

3.? Should the US laws be reciprocal toward visitors or immigrants to the degree that their home counties are to US visitors or immigrants?

I could see some validity to this. Reciprocity exists?between some states, as with various permits and licenses. I would expect such an arrangement to be subject to oversight, of course, and not automated.?

4.? The Baltimore bridge collapse - what happened?

Looks like the ship had a mechanical issue and pulled off the road in a bad spot! I understand they?did try to call for help from a tug and they did notify authorities. I am withholding?any more indignant comments until the official investigation results arrive.

5.? ?Should the owner of the ship or the company that chartered it be held liable for the replacement cost?

See above. Depends?upon the circumstances. Having?said that, I would also have to admit I was assuming that such would be the case anyway.

1.? Should illegal immigrants be allowed to occupy vacant homes without the permission of the owner?

No

2,? Should individual states be allowed to arrest illegal immigrants for trespassing?

Yes

3.? Should the US laws be reciprocal toward visitors or immigrants to the degree that their home counties are to US visitors or immigrants?

Yes - this would bring the laws of countries like Mexico to the people who come here from there - maybe they would rise up and change their country o origin circumstances.? At the very least people not permanently legally resident should not be counted in the decimal census apportioning congressional representation.? And people who illegally entered should be forbidden from ever becoming immigrants.? And lastly there should not be birthright citizenship granted to infants born of people who are not permanent legal residents.

4.? The Baltimore bridge collapse - what happened?

We will never know - it certainly was a Black Swan event.? Too many things are being hidden.

5.? ?Should the owner of the ship or the company that chartered it be held liable for the replacement cost?

Yes - but the probably maximum penalty that can be charged is most likely the value of the ship.? Biden is absurd when he says the US government will pay the full cost of replacement.

Squatting is illegal no matter who is doing it.

2,? Should individual states be allowed to arrest illegal immigrants for trespassing?
That is the current law. They just cannot deport anyone.

3.? Should the US laws be reciprocal toward visitors or immigrants to the degree that their home counties are to US visitors or immigrants?
No. Every nation has its own priorities.

4.? The Baltimore bridge collapse - what happened?
I believe that the fault lies with the Baltimore Port Authority for not anticipating this kind of situation.

5.? ?Should the owner of the ship or the company that chartered it be held liable for the replacement cost?
No. That would ultimately result in increased prices for consumer goods.

1.? Should illegal immigrants be allowed to occupy vacant homes without the permission of the owner?

No one should be allowed to occupy vacant homes without permission of the owner.

2,? Should individual states be allowed to arrest illegal immigrants for trespassing?

States should be allowed to arrest trespassers regardless of their immigration status.

3.? Should the US laws be reciprocal toward visitors or immigrants to the degree that their home counties are to US visitors or immigrants?

No, the laws within a country should apply equally to every adult.

4.? The Baltimore bridge collapse - what happened?

A container ship’s power failed and it crashed into a bridge.

5.? ?Should the owner of the ship or the company that chartered it be held liable for the replacement cost?

Liability depends on the cause of the incident, and the cause has not yet been established.
