Re: Initial Setup of the Mount
They may not be as different as you think
the RA, you can grab the counterweight shaft, and the movement is
amplified. with the dec, there's nothing really to grab to move it or

Re: Initial Setup of the Mount
Brian, yesi noticed this with the RA worm blocks. The DEC is tight, no movement at all as far as backlash.
I just assumed that the RA should be the same.Deric

Re: Initial Setup of the Mount
PS
i should mention that when I first got my spring loaded worms, i did find
that a bit surprising.
You should also notice that the worm gear on RA moves up/down slightly as
you move the ra axis

Re: Initial Setup of the Mount
If you have spring-loaded worms, that isn't unusual, particularly if you
are describing moving with the counterweight bar
As I mentioned before, in use during tracking there's no RA backlash

Re: Initial Setup of the Mount
Hi Deric
how does this show up for you?
RA only moves in one direction, so any backlash that you may have, you
wouldn't see it during observation because it only ever moves in

Greg, I probably did not state my self very clear. I have a bit of play or backlash in my RA I wish would go away. The Losmandy heavy duty tripod is as solid as it comes. The Berlebach tripods are

Deric I have the Berlebach Planet. Mine has the double knobs on the legs to keep them tight. I keep my GM811 RA assembly on it all the time. It's easy to carry out to my pad to setup. I'm only doing

When we had things come up in our electrical stuff in Wyoming, one of the guys blamed it on a square electron.
