the RA, you can grab the counterweight shaft, and the movement is amplified. with the dec, there's nothing really to grab to move it or exaggerate the movement

PS?
i should mention that when I first got my spring loaded worms, i did find that a bit surprising.?
You should also notice that the worm gear on RA moves up/down slightly as you move the ra axis back and forth (assuming you have tight clutches) which to me was more alarming! I spent quite a bit of time on this analyzing?it and talking to Scott, and i
eventually came to understand that's how the mount esp. with SLW is supposed to be and it doesn't impact?my tracking

Hi Deric
>>> I have a bit of play or backlash in my RA I wish would go away.
how does this show up for you??
RA only moves in one direction, so any backlash that you may have, you wouldn't see it during observation because it only ever moves in one direction

Greg, I probably did not state my self very clear. I have a bit of play or backlash in my RA I wish would go away. The Losmandy heavy duty tripod is as solid as it comes. The Berlebach tripods are nice and there has been many discussions here
and on CN on the merits of the Berlebach's. I am just visual myself.

Deric I have the Berlebach Planet. Mine has the double knobs on the legs to keep them tight. I keep my GM811 RA assembly on it all the time. It's easy to carry out to my pad to setup. I'm only doing visual at this time but it works great.
