FWIW, I spent the $50 and have a 1lb can of "Jet-Lube MP50 moly paste".? I would describe it as medium to dark silvery gray.? I definitely would not call it "blue-black".

I note the date code says it was manufactured in 2015.? Does this stuff have a shelf life?? It seems and feels very "wet and greasy".... definitely not dried out at all.

I used it mixed 50/50 with Mobilgrease 28 to re-lube my RA gears.
Hi Paul,

The TD sheet for the MP-50 is attached. They say blue to black which I think has to do with the lighting and how you perceive the reflective particles within. In the pic attached, the paste looks more like it contains graphite fines, though the composition is 50% molybdenum disulfide and 50% hydrocarbon oil. But you can be the judge of what color you see.

My can is 3-4 years old and still looks the same, but I do try to mix it up a bit each time for use. I haven't seen it thicken or coagulate to date, so I can't say it has gone bad in any way.

The Mobilgrease 28 is an aviation lube and I doubt you will find any outdated containers being distributed. If some old material somehow was past its shelf life, no one would want to take responsibility for it downing a plane with some type of mechanical failure. As you already have seen, this grease is a bright red color which distinguishes it from some other greases. The Jet-Lube Artic is a clear-ish amber, and the Suplerlube is a translucent water-white.?

A mixture of MP-50 with the Mobilgrease 28 seems like it would deliver a range of good lubrication properties, with both MoS2 and the anti-wear additives of the latter. Using the blend on the ring and worms should prove a good idea, though I haven't tried yet myself.?
