Eddie,
The JMI will attach just like the Losmandy. Inserting it through the
center of the RA shaft. It is a 6x finder, comes with a collar that
allows it to be tightened into place using the threaded area available
at the end of the RA shaft. A small nylon type led then screws into the
finder. It allows focus with no problems associtated. The tightening
collar then has it's own set screw. You can then turn the alignment
finder to align the ecthings on Ursa Major and Cassiopeia before polar
alignment.
The vf is illuminated for 15 seconds starting with the brightest
illumination and dimming over that period. Usually, it takes two to four
pushes of the activation switch to get a good alignment. There are
indicator etchings on the glass for epoch 2000 and 2010 as well as 1950.
You can use two stars to aling on. There is an etchng to allow for a
third, but my skies have never allowed me to see that one.
After a maticulous alignment, my GM8 tracks very well.
Take care,
Gregory david Stempel
