Re: Lab 599 for youth
It's a good little radio - you will need to add stuff like a digirig sound module and cables to do digital modes You don't have open access to a software api or web server access to CAT control etc

Lab 599 for youth
Our kids are learning CW. It¡¯s about time to get them on the air. Want to upgrade from our ancient ICOM radio. On paper the Lab 599 looks like a good option for our use: pre-teens using straight

Re: Question for CW ops
I've definitely noticed some subtle timing differences between the tx-500 and my other portable rigs (ft818nd, kx2, and kx3). I can easily switch between the others with no issues. When I use the

Re: Question for CW ops
There are two iambic modes, A and B. Both radios can be set up for either. Maybe you are used to what your KX2 is set at and the TX500 is set for the other. I have made this mistake myself in the

Question for CW ops
I have found the keyer on the TX500 a bit difficult to use. I am used to my KX2 with full QSK, ?and realize this is slower to switch between transmissions, but the keyer itself seems a bit laggy and

Re: BP500 summary - from those who have one - summary thread
i think you can find the answers from reading the threads. This is my take. I had a failure on my charge controller, it was repaired under warranty. It took a bit of time due to parts shortage, but

Re: Audio Chip?
Hi Pete, The high voltage is after the transformer, not before. At the antenna connector we have around 50 Ohms. I think it's a combination of current mode and picking the HF up somewhere at the

Re: Audio Chip?
I don't think 5 or 10W out of an antenna and picked up on the audio line would be anywhere near sufficient to cause any damage to the chip. I was parked up right next to someone running 200W on 11m

Scott, a while back I was testing out an end fed also using the Elecraft T1 and connected to the rig via a couple of metres of coax. As the T1 was going through the tuning cycle on 17m at about 3W I

Re: Audio Chip?
Tom I agree with your line of thinking. It seems to me it is a good possibility that the headphone or mic. cable is picking up RF and taking it directly to the audio amp. Larry n0sa
