I've definitely noticed some subtle timing differences between the tx-500 and my other portable rigs (ft818nd, kx2, and kx3). I can easily switch between the others with no issues. When I use the tx-500 I make more mistakes. IMO, the keyer is a bit quirky. The more I use it the smoother the keying but there is definitely an adjustment period that I don't have with the other rigs. I use a single lever paddle so the iambic does not apply. The other rigs seem to.allow me to be a little less precise on the keying input. Almost like they have more buffering? I've never been able to pin it down exactly.?
Also, I've had the tx-500 for over a year and love the rig.

There are two iambic modes, A and B. Both radios can be set up for either. Maybe you are used to what your KX2 is set at and the TX500 is set for the other. I have made this mistake myself in the past. Larry n0sa
