For those who would like to go "fishing", the website to access the English
catalogue appears to be
If enough people are interested, it may be possible to organise a more
specific search through the archives, as most of the films are in Russian
and probably less accessible to most of our web search capabilities.

I saw your message on Kresy-Siberia. You father would not have been
deported to Krakow in 1940; that city was occupied by the Nazis and
virtually all Polish Army personnel interned or captured by the Red Army
would have been "moved" eastward and not turned over to the Nazis.

Kresy Pages and "Forgotten Odyssey" Screenings, Canada
Thank you Wanda for the info about Stowarzyszenie
Wspolnota Polska.
When the list of screenings with locations, dates, and times
becomes available for "A Forgotten Odyssey," I will be sure to
let my Canadian friends know if posted to the list.

This is very helpful teamwork, as it confirms that the Bortkiewicze that Joe
is looking for is the one now in Belarus near Asmjany and Paljany. What we
have not been able to confirm is what has happened to the village itself
(which was probably renamed into something similar sounding).
Joe, I hope that your hunt is going well ... perhaps when you receive your
father's statement from Irene at the Hoover, you can share it with the
group! Also, there are a few screenings of the Forgotten Odyssey being
planned in Canada in early 2002 - which part of the country are you in?

w.), nalez~y do do~br. skarb. Daukszynszki. Nabyta w 1787 r. przez Ignacego
Waz~yn~skiego od Bortkiewiczo~w, wyszl~a z domu Waz~yn~skich wskutek
eksdywizyi okol~o r. 1830. 2.) B., ws~, pow. dz~win~ski (dyneburski), par.
Krasl~aw.
So there were 2 villages by the name Bortkiewicze, the first one listed being
in Oszmiany powiat (district), 15 wiorsts from Polany.
ShtetlSeeker finds 3 Polany's in Belarus. One is due north of Asmjany, about
halfway to Hrodzi, and now known as Paljany.

Stelmachowski for the purpose of providing assistance to all Polish Peoples
all over the world . The members are senators, members of parlament,
lawyers, church members, social workers, educators, business people, etc on
executive level, . it exists since l990 under the patronate of Polish Senat.
I n short they should know everything about everything that is polish all
over the world
That is in the nutshell.

Can anyone tell me what this organization does? ?Does it
report on Senate proceedings as well as other things?

times are bussy.
