Hello All!
Having just seen my newly found cousin(Thanks to Kresy-Siberia and Audrey Czechowski in particula)r, on her way to Perth, Australia I am putting out feelers as to the expected interst in a trip to Poland. It would be part air and a fully escorted tour in Poland taking such elements as Krakow, Oswiecim Wieliczka Kazimierz Zakopane Lancut (includes wodka tasting and a wodka museum). A meal at a restraunt which serves dishes cooked to traditional 17th century recipes. Gdansk Wadowice and a sampling of the special cakes the pope enjoys. These are just a sample of delights on offer p,lease get in touch with me at helena52@... and indicate in subject trip to Poland Bye 4 now Hela. _________________________________________________________________ Hotmail messages direct to your mobile phone |

A Question of Honor, The Kosciuszko Squadron, Forgotten Heroes of World War II
feb10transport
Dear Group,
In commemoration of Polish American Heritage month (October) the Polish American Congress of Southern Californian in conjunction with the Polish Consulate in Los Angeles and the Polish Fighters Association has invited the authors of the book, A Question of Honor, Lynne Olson and Stanley Cloud, for a book signing. This event will be held on Oct. 22 at the Parish hall of Our Lady of Bright Mountain Church, Los Angeles at 7pm. I would strongly recommend this book to the members of the KS group. It tells it like it is. That is to say it talks about the abandonment of Poland by its closest allies, Great Britain and the United States. The theme in this book not only covers Poland's participation in the Battle of Britain. It goes on to describe Polands victories and defeats and dovetails significantly into the video which launched this group, The Forgottten Odyssey. The book which is 480 pages long is available at Amazon.com Take care. Rich Widerynski |

开云体育Thank
You for your reply.
?
You
have much additional information about each photo. It will take me a little
longer to add all of that to each photo. I can send you the additional
information on the front of each photo or leave it off. I plan on adding it to
each photo that will be posted on the Web site. I will do a few tonight to show
you how it will look. If you decide that you wish it to be placed on the photos
that will appear on the CD that I send to you I will also add it to
them.
?
Normally I add that information along the bottom of the front of the
photo. This way it does not distract from the photo.

I posted a few photos of Vilnius (then Wilno) on the Kresy-Siberia site last summer,

taken in July 2002. There are not many, but your father would perhaps appreciate seeing the three crosses on the hill, that were restored in 1989. There is also a photo of the cathedral. The Ostra Brama was being renovated and covered in scaffolding, so I didn't take any photos of it. I don't believe any of the streets were called Pilsudski, but of course, most of them have been renamed in Lithuanian. Barbara Davoust Toulouse, France On 2 Oct 2003 at 8:19, dgryszk19 wrote:

Hi Everyone!
I was wondering if anyone has photos of Vilna Poland,(now Lithuania). My father said he lived at ul.29 Pilsudski, that his parents owned a house and butcher shop, something about a hotel also. Just to see where my dad grew up, he was born 1918-1920,name Mikolaj Gryszkiewicz.Taken by the Russians in 1939,after this all I know he was somewhere in Siberia and 1941-42 joined up with General Anders. After war came to Halifax Canada on the SS Robin(?) with 400 other poles. Than sent to work on farms in Ontario. Would appreciate any photos or information. Thank You in advance, David |

Dianne,
Thank you for the Photos regarding the Fedorowicz family in Tengeru. I will be scanning them over the next few days and will return them to you with the new CD. You sent me your address inside with the photos but it is not complete. It is missing the country. I think you are from Great Britain based on the stamp on the envelope. There was no return address on the envelope. Please respond with your complete address and your complete name. So when I send the photos back by Federal Express it will be sent correctly. I will wait for your reply and send back the photos as soon as I am done. Thank you again for sharing these photos with all of us. I will also post these on the web. I will first adjust (where possible) the photos to make the people more visible and clear and then for contrast and brightness. Again your originals will never be changed. They will remain as I received them. When you receive your photos back with the CD and have any questions please feel free to contact me anytime. Julek |
An Unexpected Opportunity
Just thought I would share this with you ....
I was in the office (last Friday) of our large Adult Learning Centre where we have many programs. One of them being a chance for young people( who have quit school or have been thrown out for a variety of reasons) to come and to try to get their high school diploma. I overheard a young teacher (history) sharing with another that she was finishing a unit on World War Two with a class of such students.. I quickly jumped in asking her if she wanted a speaker to share some personal experiences.....to bring the history alive...being a very wise teacher she agreed but "could I do this on monday"...of course seeing this as a teachable moment said "yes". I had to make some changes to my schedule and plans but I did it. I showed the Forgotten Odessey which the teacher thought was excellent and I gave a half hour talk sharing the odessey of my parents and family. Both the teacher and I were so inpressed with the attention and reaction of these "special " students. You could not hear a pin drop and they were totally moved. I was pleased that I took this unexpected opportunity to share our story ie our history with 30 young people and a teacher who intends to teach this again with all her future classes. Just for Information ...for those living in southern Ontario I will be showing the film "The Forgotten Odessey" in english on Sunday, November 9....3:00 pm (close to November 11 ..Remembrance Day) Polish Legion....601 Wellington N. Kitchener I am sending special invitations to sons and daughters and grandchildren of "Sybiraki"...because many of them do not know the history of their parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles etc. I will post this also on the Forgotten Odessey site Sorry for being so long winded !!! |
