Re: TM-V71A USB speed setting
I got back to the group today. Thanks for the input.? Yes, the current settings work fine, just that there is a 10-15 second delay before the two start communicating.
I did find in the radio's menu 519, page 20 but I already have it to 9600.?? I have three of these radios. Some of them don't have that delay, which I started research on why.
I called RT Systems and said it does not have that feature.? I'm back to trying out the (obsolete) OEM software.

Re: TM-V71A USB speed setting
For my Kenwood TS-870 and Windows 10 peecee I use a UGREEN 6ft USB to Serial Adapter, RS232Serial to USB Adapter DB9 Male 9 Pin with PL2303 Chipset from Amazon, works great, talks to Ham Radio Deluxe just fine. Currently $13.

开云体育Hi Karl, I use the RT Systems TM-V71 software and programming cable with my Windows PC - works fine with no issues and no need to set the baud rate.? All I had to do was select the correct serial COM port. ? Good luck and 73, Tad Danley, K3TD? On 10/31/2024 10:18 PM, K7SRG via

I've never had to set that on any radio I've programmed in the last 30+ years. Any brand, any vintage.

Rusty, that's for the packet port and opertion. I was asking about the "PC" port for programming.? After reviewing the manual it looks like the RT software left out that feature. I still have to find where in the radio's menu to match that. More time to spend. |

I couldn't find the baud rate either, so I'd be inclined to try the standard 9600 8N1. |

开云体育RT Systems, in many cases, doesn't include all of the features found in the factory software. That's my experience. Gary ? On 10/31/2024 11:10 AM, K7SRG wrote:

Anyone know where to adjust this ?? I did not find it in the user or service manual or on line.? I friend indicated it's done in two areas; the radio and the RT systems software.
Would this be a function in the OEM software (instead of RT)?

Re: Authorized Kenwood Service Center
Thanks Jeff.. I did not follow those instructions specifically. I did do a master reset.. a couple of times. Also pulled my hair out chasing the individual gremlins.?
?
And, even if my efforts had found & fixed the other issues, I verified that the frequency has drifted off so I know it needs an alignment.?
?
If this was a Hallicrafters, or National, or a Swan, even a Collins, I'd be all over it. But with shaky hands and diminishing eyesight, I don't trust myself to dig around in a rig that is packed as tightly as the Kenwood.?
?
And the rig was gifted to me by the widow of a SK... It would be an extra layer of horrible if I was poking around in there and let smoke out.?
?
So, I appreciate the suggestions but, for me, the best choice is to put it in the hands of someone that does that kind of thing for a living.

Re: Authorized Kenwood Service Center
Wayne, I cannot help you with a tech center, but wondered if you have been through all of the steps in section 15 of the Instruction Manual "Trouble Shooting"
In particular there is an interesting section on resetting the microprocessor and wondered if that might clear up some of the problems you are experiencing?
"If your transceiver seems to be malfunctioning, resetting the microprocessor to its default settings may resolve the problem. There are 2 levels of resetting the microprocessor of the TS-590SG transceiver: Partial Reset and Full Reset." In addition there is a VFO Reset "Perform a VFO Reset if a key or control does not function according to the instructions in this manual. The following data is NOT erased by performing a VFO Reset.

Authorized Kenwood Service Center
Howdy folks.? I have a Kenwood TS-590sg that is in serious need of some servicing.? To that end I am in search of a service center that can get'er done.
?
The Kenwood site lists one in New York - which I have emailed a couple of times. So far they have ignored my inquiry. But there has to be more out there somewhere.
?
I was ripped off on an ICOM job I needed done a few years ago so I tend to shy away from independent technicians.? I'm sure there are honest ones out there but 'once bitten, twice shy' as the saying goes.
?
Any 'constructive' input is welcome.? Thanks y'all.

Re: TM-V71A mobile microphone
Tad,? Not answering your inquiry but the only difference i found was the PTT button vers the PTT lever (like the old Motorola mics).? Mine had the former (which was hard to use) and found the level type on ebay.
And no, it appears it was not some Chinees kock-off but real OEM. Anyway, I have two of these radios.

TM-541A 1.2 ghz mobile question
Greetings all-
?
Well, this is esoteric...
I recently got a TM-541A 1.2 ghz mobile rig.
Unlike ALL the other versions of this radio, there is no way to calibrate the frequency.
There is no master TCXO clock trimmer. The TC1 trimmer is just PLL voltage.
Mine is 2khz off and sure would like to net it in.
?
Any gurus out there?
Or maybe a pointer to a Kenwood master?
?
Thanks-

Re: Kenwood paint colours
Hi John
?
You could try taking it to an automotive paint supplier. They have a gadget to analyse car paint colours and should be able to mix some up for you.
?
Incidentally the Argon One case for my RPi4 rig controller is an almost exact match for my TS-870.
