Re: Buddipole Mini 2?
The POWERmini2 User Guide that came with my unit is Copyright 2021.? The Specifications Sheet on Page 13 lists a USB output voltage of 5.2 volts with a USB charge maximum output current of 4.0 amps.? Footnote 5 on the current specifies that "Exceeding the maximum current for USB will result in the output being disabled.? Disconnecting the device from the USB port will re-enable the USB output."

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi I have been only following this a little, but if this is a Pi with only 2GB of memory you will have to increase the swap space to get Fldigi to complete its build. Maybe some of the others also. I know on my HP running the e86 Raspian OS I had to increase the swap to 2048. Marty kd8bj

After reading the FAQ's last night, I found that the newer versions of build a pi can run the script multiple times to install software. I will give that a run this morning when I get to the machine. I did go through and try three different installs. On the last one I did the manual checking as you suggested it still had the same result. Might be a dumb question....
#rpi
So I am trying to install build a pi on a fresh install of Raspbian (on a RPi 3 B+). I run the script from GitHub and input my call, plug in the GPS, hotspot info, etc. I click "check all and continue" for all software packages. Problem is, when I finish with the install, most of the software did not install. When I have done older versions of BAP, they have installed all.?
Am I doing something wrong? Thanks! |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi Jason, I have noticed that the GPS/GLONASS direct USB mount dongle is clearly weaker than the G-MOUSE RoHS IPX6 magnetic mount GPS and the GlobalSat BU-353-S4 USB magnetic mount GPS dongles.? Watching <CGPS> over time on a Pi-4-B the GLONASS has flaky difficulties when plugged directly to the USB port, dropping in and out and in continually, where the other GPSes are not flaky at all.? I tried the GLONASS on a two foot USB extension cord inside the house on my Pi-4-B and it, though still a weaker GPS receiver, did not flake out and came up quicker.? The GLONASS is not at all flaky on any of my Pi-3-Bs and maintains and maintains 7 to 9 satellites inside the house, whereas on the Pi-4-B it receives 4 to 6 satellites. 73 Herm, W7HRM On 8/31/2021 7:26 AM, km4ack wrote:

Anyway, I wonder if this could be the same issue. So far we have everything going except for WSJTX Good luck ! Tom |

Yes, blinking steadily like it did when it was working in Conky.ok. let's see if the pi is getting the data. In a terminal, run: cgps and verify you have GPS data. Provided you do, run this command next: ~/bin/conky/get-grid and see if it returns your grid square or produces errors. If it give you errors, please post them. -- 73, de KM4ACK

Re: Build a Pi I-Gate
Jumping in here, but keep in mind, my use case is quite limited; mostly just Pat for Winlink access. And even at that, it's mostly just tinkering, and nothing serious.
All that said, I am able to connect my D710G to the RPi over USB without having to install Direwolf. I use the TNC in Packet mode on the radio and everything seems to work out just fine. I have not tried to use it with APRS at all, so I can't comment on YAAC or Xaster, but I would guess you do not need Direwolf for that either. Perhaps others here might have more experience...? ¡ªMitch, N7USU |
Re: Build a Pi I-Gate
Sorry Garret, I can't answer the question as I have no experience with the D710G. Maybe someone else who owns the rig can jump in here. You might also check the direwolf forum /g/direwolf/topics or the pi forum /g/RaspberryPi-4-HamRadio/topics

Anybody running gpsd to read from another Pi?
I'm using the Argon 4 case with SSD and the USB 3.0 ports are jamming the gps dongle. I connected a long USB and that's okay, but is messy and fragile with the cable strewn across the room.
I have a Pi Zero Wifi that I moved the GPS to, and that works great.? Now I've specified on my Pi 4 that DEVICE="192.168.0.200:2947" which is supposed to have the gpsd on my Pi 4 connect to the gpsd on the Pi Zero, and get its data from there. All clients on the Pi 4 should never know the difference. But, I keep getting INFO: opening remote gpsd feed at 192.168.0.200, port 2947. ERROR: remote gpsd device open error can't connect to host/port pair. ERROR: initial GPS device gpsd://192.168.0.200:2947 open failed netstat on the Pi Zero shows: pi@hamclock:~ $ ps -aux | grep -i gps gpsd?????? 433? 0.6? 0.7? 14424? 3500 ???????? The -G is supposed to allow that, but is it not working? 73, KO4RON Ron |

If it will be plugged in at boot, change the /etc/default/gpsd file so that autostart is false rather than true. That fixed an issue for me.
