It should be worth it once the bugs are down to a minimum..
there are alot of uBITX kits out there...

I still have the 49er..pieces ready to get going as well..with the article in QST doing the same for this one (but not until there are more than a few successes should help with recouping your time invested..(which for me has been invaluable)..

?Will the circuit definitely need a pc or could it be done on something like prototype board? I am in the Uk so might it be easier to construct it from a circuit diagram??

What we're doing is creating a very small PCB that will clamp the supply voltage to the display. Parts for the board will cost less than $2. We will send one of these PCB boards to JackAl owners at no charge with a request and a SASE. We will provide further details when the boards come in and announce their availability here. We are also expanding the documentation and hope to have a new assembly manual by week's end. Again, we will announce it here.

Re: JackAl Display and Voltage Spikes

You're right. It has consumed about 10hr/day, 24-7, for the past 18 months. I've learned a lot, and even though I've spent thousands on it which I doubt that I'll ever recoup, it's been a great learning experience.

Keep working on it...the end result is well worth it!

Re: [QRPLabs] QCX QSO party on Monday 29th April #qrp-dx #qcx

This is true, and is the third time our site's been hacked. We are adding yet another security package and are "assured" by our ISP that the new software will take care of it. FOr now, stay away until the new software is installed. We will do a post when it's done.

i also had a blank screen.? but what i found was some change in compiling the code.?

go back and download and compile a known good copy of say .95 without making any changes and see what that does.? it worded for me.? if you have done anything to the code try this.

if the 3.3v regulator went you would have scraped the teensy also.

this caused the display to go blank (had been working though for the last couple of weeks), but I never got through the cal routine.

Just when I finally broke the code, and was going to try v0.96, nothing !

replaced the jackAl regulator, no help...display causing the issue, pulled the 3.3v regulator on the display it appears to be ok, now will try and see if it destroyed the RA8875 chip.
BuyDisplay not interested in helping with a replacement (probably because the JackAl board caused the issue.

There needs to be a bit of a redesign to add AL's mod for 3.3v protection to the board itself.

More to follow...had to order another display.? Not happy.

Re: 7 inch Display Destroyed $50.00 brick

Yes, unfortunately BuyDisplay post-sale support sucks. We've had several displays go bad and they "test them" and say they are fine. Al does have the Gerbers for the protection board and I'm sure he'd share them.

what is necessary to get the print routine to print? ? debug was defined

JackAl Secondary source for download files

All:

Although our site has been restored with new security software, some of you have expressed concern about the site. We understand this completely. On the other hand, many of you want to download the updated files about the JackAl project. To that end, I have copied the relevant doc and source files to the [email protected] site. Look in the Files section under JackAl Documentation and Code Files.

I noticed on my iPad when I checked it that there was an address for a website in Russia (.ru) and a whole bunch of others it was cycling through. ?I ran a complete virus scan on my computer to make sure it wasn't being triggered in my own machine from having accidentally gotten it from the first hack, and all three of my virus checkers showed clean before I posted the last message. ?

Hope you guys get this one solved. ?If it were my site and the ISP was not helping solve that kind of problem, I'd seriously be looking for another ISP. ?They obviously don't care about their customers.

Hope you got your taxes done in time, this time of year is always stressful for sure.

Good luck with solving the website problem.
