Re: Yosemite drive through permits
Yes, that is how I read it (Yosemite wilderness permit) and that is why I got the day pass. However, I am going to Yosemite this Saturday for overnight wilderness camping. I will ask the ranger this

Re: Yosemite drive through permits
Ken, can you confirm that a wilderness permit for INYO National Forest is sufficient to allow a person to drive through Yosemite. I found conflicting information on Yosemite's "Plan Your Visit"

Re: Yosemite drive through permits
You can enter on any of the 3 days for the permit. It's changed from a couple years ago when you were forced to enter on the first day of the pass.

Re: Yosemite drive through permits
Hi Ken Thanks. The day permit also has interesting wording. The permit is valid for 3 days from the day of the event , I don¡¯t think there¡¯s a need to enter that day.

Re: Yosemite drive through permits

Re: John Ladd
Yikes - just read the responder¡¯s account of the situation - a lot more serious than I thought when I first heard the news. Hope he heals up well, sounds like it could have been a far worse outcome

Re: Permit Exit Trail
So since we are searching for the subject s/he is not available to give us the scent article. We usually send the handler (often a CARDA person) into the house with the family to get the best piece

To add to that last email, The footprint is for the trackers. Trailing dog teams should also be able to use footprints as well. I use them to confirm my dog's work. I.e. if my dog is working in an

Re: Permit Exit Trail
OK, from a canine search and rescue perspective, which I was a trailing handler for 25 years, I did not talk about scent articles. Here is the scent article scoop. Only the subject should create the

Footprint is usually for the trackers. We use it to get a direction of travel-cuts the search area. Difficult to follow over long stretches. We use a scent article for the dogs - recently worn

Very sorry to read about his accident. Always a positive force in the hiking community and I hope he recovers quickly. John is, so far, the only member of this community who I have met in person. We
