To add to that last email, The footprint is for the trackers.
Trailing dog teams should also be able to use footprints as well.
I use them to confirm my dog's work. I.e. if my dog is working in
an area that has some good track traps (open dirt areas), I look
at the ground to see if I can see any matching tracks or signs.
Also, the flankers are to keep an eye out as well for signs.
SAR is a puzzle game where we constantly look for clues - How is
the trailing dog working? Is there an article/item that belongs to
the subject? etc.

haystack of hundreds of footprints on the trail...
