Hi to all

I would like to provide you with some information about J-Say 23 updates.

?

A small update will be available next week I expect. This corrects J-Say working with a small number of commands, including Speak Line, which is working on some machines but not others.

I am working with some users who are affected by this during this week. I am sure I have the problem resolved but it needs to be checked with those users.

When everything is resolved I will provide a link to that update.

?

There will be a very large update coming in May or early June at the latest. It has many changes including integration with ChatGPT, a podcast app, a new radio directory and more.

A number of months have been spent refining these features by some of the users of our Leasey product, and that is important so that J-Say users gain a good experience.

Again, I will let you know when that is ready and version 23 license holders will get a free update to that version.

I think you ought to start by ensuring you are using a good quality noise cancelling headset as previously described.

When you have that, come back to me. I will arrange a time with you to log onto the computer. We’ll create a new profile with that headset and I will make sure that everything is configured correctly, because it sounds as though it may not be.

That could be part of your issue. I would be inclined to switch it to a Plantronics headset, such as one of the POLY Blackwire 3220 or 3210 items. I always recommend those. They are USB headsets that produce a good level of voice recognition.

The reason it is saying, I do not understand, is usually because a noise cancelling headset is not being used as recommended in the J-Say User Guide.

Dragon is capturing sound that it cannot process correctly.

You can disable J-Say from saying that with the command, Errors Off, but that will not solve the overall problem. All that will do is stop the message from being spoken. Dragon is still capturing the unwanted sound. So the first step in resolving this perhaps is to let us know the make and model of the headset being used so I can advise you better.

In November, I connected to your computer and corrected a Dragon problem where the profile was not being saved. I ensured it was working.

The fact that I had to do that for you would indicate that you do need assistance with issues like this, and that you get into difficulties when you do them yourself. That is logical.

So if you did have problems, I would have thought the thing to do would have been to say, “this isn’t working”, or, “that isn’t working”, and then it could have been hopefully fixed rather than undertaking various repairs.

?

Now, if it is true that text is not being written to the Address Bar of a browser for example, that is a Dragon issue rather than a J-Say one, and Dragon may?? need to be re-installed or the browser configured in some way. But that needs investigating.

?

I will write to you and arrange another appointment with you to remote back on and undertake all the configuration again. If we are lucky, that may be this week, but I will certainly be in contact with you and we’ll go through these issues.

My latest ordeal is that sometimes J say Scripps don’t seem to always work.

It may be related to this: I was having some trouble with jaws, at this point I can’t remember what it was, but for some reason I thought it might be smart to reset jaws to factory settings. You would think I would know better.

In doing so, it apparently dumped all settings and scripts that were installed. No problem, I thought, since I had a fairly recent version of J say downloaded to my computer. I ran the install and things mostly are working out.

However, it doesn’t seem to want to dictate in things like address bars, search boxes or form fields. This includes the address/search bar and file Explorer. I noticed that I am reduced to issuing a command to individually type each character there. My workaround is to have an open Word document which I can easily dictate into. It just adds an extra layer to my workflow to copy and paste things over into a web form.

Another oddity is that some commands and Outlook are missing. For example the command to go to folder is missing. I can still tell Dragon to press control Y to access it. Also the command to save an attachment is missing. Fortunately, I can manage to navigate to it with Windows commands.

If any of this makes sense, and you can point me to a solution, I would appreciate it. I promise, I’ll try not to break your product anymore (I hope).

No, you really must not dictate those commands for shutting down the computer in the way you have been doing.

If you do that, Dragon is after some time likely to corrupt the voice profile.

Thank you forgiving me the proper shutdown command, I thought that the shutdown command I listed had been the right one.for the remaining 2 I don’t actually press the buttons on the keyboard, I just dictate those commands verbatim, as I wrote them. I figured Windows was already turning Dragon off 1st. Until the last week or so I haven’t had any trouble with this.

Wednesday I could do if you would like that.

The correct voice command is, Computer Off.

That saves the profile first and then closes down the computer.

?

If you do use the keyboard to close the computer, Dragon, must, must be closed down first. This can be done by focusing upon the Dragon Bar, pressing ALT+F4 to close Dragon, and then it is safe to restart the computer using one of your below methods.

You are correct, I believe my version of Dragon is 15. I may have either heard it wrong, or written it down wrong.

I’m pretty diligent about shoving down my computer using one of the following methods:

?

1. Shut down (or restart) my computer.

2. Press Windows x. Followed by you, you to shut down. Or followed by you, are for restart.

3. Press alt F4. Then arrowing to the desired selection, either shut down or restart.

?

Only in extremely rare instances do I ever press and hold the power key.

?

It seems difficult to believe that the profile is being removed from the computer unless you are not closing down the computer properly in line with the instructions given in the J-Say User Guide, or unless there is something on the computer which is removing it, such as MalwareBytes or some other nonsense like that.

For several days now, every time I boot up my computer Dragon has me build a new user profile. The process isn’t difficult, just annoying that I have to do it every time I reboot my computer.

?

One thing I’ve noticed is that once Dragon is up, running and taking dictation, when I check the profile menu, there are no profiles at all. The only options are new, manage or open. Both the manage in the open option indicate there are no profiles listed, and the only thing I can actually do is hit the button to create a new one. I don’t know what’s happening with the active profile that I am currently using, but it never appears in the list box.

What am I missing in establishing a new profile and getting it to stick?
