Re: Wanted: Schematic for S-38E
Bob, just a little OT question: what on the front makes you think it is Canadian? If it is, there would originally have been a sticker with “HEPC” [Hydro Electric Power Commission] of Ontario?,

Re: Wanted: Schematic for S-38E
I have books for the S-40B from BAMA. Both Hallicrafters and Sams.
While many of the changes in the B from earlier versions were to make it cheaper to build I think its overall a better

Richard,
I have a Hallicrafters S-40B with an added Heathkit QF-1 Q-multiplier. The QF-1 is powered by

Re: Wanted: Schematic for S-38E
I just acquired a Hallicrafters S-40B a few days ago. Looks as if it has never been touched in 74 years. Looks like a winter project. If you would be so kind I'd like to get a copy of the manual too.

Re: SX-16 with snap, crackle, pop ( Bill's beloved SX-17 on the ropes 03/06/21
The 6R7 and 6T7 are rather different although they have the same base and grid connections. One will do for trouble shooting the other but the triode characteristics are rather different. Also, the

Re: SX-16 with snap, crackle, pop ( Bill's beloved SX-17 on the ropes 03/06/21
The 6R7GT grid cap was reworked earlier. The shield loom had previously been badly kinked and was breaking up.? So I cut back one inch, pushed the loom back a bit, slid a length of heatshrink over

Dan, it seems that you are doing an admirable job of tracing and documenting.
It seems that the 6R7 area it the problem area. I may have missed something but have you considered the cathode cap for

Is a wire missing in the schematics for the Mark 2 for the B- at Pin 3 of 12AV6? ?Your note #7 indicates to find the B- there for all measurements.

Re: SX-16 with snap, crackle, pop ( Bill's beloved SX-17 on the ropes 03/06/21
The noise is still present when using an old set of Halli phones.
It was easier to just pull and run with one 5881, power up and the noise was there, then reinstall and repeat with the other.
I do not

Do you have a scope? If so do some signal tracing. \
The only schematic I can find shows the audio output stage to be a push-pull pentode stage driven via a grid transformer from a 6R7, a dual
