AFAIK, all of the hallicrafters listed below have metal front panels and are housed in metal cases.? The S-10 / SX-10 did have an optional mahogany?case that the metal case slipped into but I doubt

Scott, was this cap part of the FM circuit path, and that is why only FM was
mucked up?
The idea about closeness to the volume pot would imply that it was an audio
feedback.

The ground was certainly good, but the cap was no longer above the IF transformer. I had to move it closes to the crystal, and volume control, also close to the wiring harness. I just had a thought,
