Very Cool,

In the Yaesu FT-857 the radio had a feature that allowed the operator to adjust the Carrier Point for either lower or upper sideband in receive or transmit?+/- 300Hz (p.97 of the operations manual).??
This tweak reminds me of that Carrier Point feature. Makes me think one could substitute a 10k pot for the fixed resistor and have one more adjustment to tinker with....;-)

That¡¯ll most likely be an S-27 (or maybe an S-36, later version of the 27).? Would be interested if you have a link to where you saw this, or what season/episode numbers was it?

Don,

?

Maybe it can help your searches or maybe not: there is a site where you can see all Allied Electronics Catalogues from 1929 up to 2015.

Sprague and many other capacitors manufacturers listed within.

Just go to :

?

73, Jacques, VE2JFE in Montreal

?

Yet thanks Jim, it worked ! ,then¡

I went down the Sprague group looking for the 109p ?[ads from about 1955 to 1959] and I could not see ¡°109p¡±. ?those 109p¡¯s had HCX? and there seemed to be nothing matching.

What is also confusing is that some metalized ?caps were called Black Beauty , but I have never found a metalized called ?¡°Black Beauty¡± ?in ads.

Re: 5T restoration - IF cans and R4 toasting

Calling this one complete.? I just need to add terminal posts/strip on the rear for the three antenna leads, not sure how they where originally terminated.? Only pictures I've seen show the three wires coming thru the grommet on rear of chassis and hanging there.? If anyone has a pic or details on on the antenna leads where dressed I could use the input.
Thank you.
