After the first of spring¡¯s yard work today, took the SX100 case into my bead blast area. Hit it really good with 80 grit bead blast then ?good wet sand with 180 and 320 grit paper. Looks so much

Try cleaning the Band Selector switch. Every One of my Halli¡¯s has had the same problem with dirty Band Selector switches. One the contacts are cleaned, the radio comes back to life. Good Luck.

FWIW, in my mispent youth I worked for Hewlett-Packard, mostly on RF gear. We washed equipment, simple washing but followed by a long baking out process. Typically a minimum of 48 hours at about 130F.
