where to find a manual for the older 6268A? (plenty out there for the B) 3
I came across one and it still works, but... Not sure I have the strapping right on the back terminal strip.

HP 4193A Vector Impedance Meter - Looking for info on the special Adjustment Board
I have a working 4193A with probe. I went through (nearly) all adjustments, but gut stuck on the ALC Ref Voltage Adjustment (A13) and the IF BPF Gain/Phase Adjustment (A12). Both adjustments call for a special Adjustment Board 04193-66564. I was not able to find any information on that extender board that obviously has switch on it. I would appreciate any information on that board. While all adjustments performed so far were right on the money, I really would like to get everything set up correctly. Thanks, Herbert

E4402B SA power problem - need DC socket connections 10
I have an E4402B spectrum analyser with an odd power fault. The SA powers down after about 10 minutes, but works fine up until then. (It has been working well in the past but has been unused for a year or two. I want to try powering it from 12V DC to see if that makes any difference. Does anyone know the polarity of the two-pin connector on the rear? And I assume that no-one has rea;l schematics for this unit. I can't find them anywhere. The service manual has just block-level detail. And could a failing Snaphat battery on the CPU board have any effect on powering up and down? It's 7 years old according to the sticker. any help gratefully received! -Jeremy

54831M Booting Problem 3
I'm working on restoring my 54831M, but have run into a weird error. With the original Win95 (maybe 98, don't remember which one its on), I can't get it to boot past the Infinium splash screen. I have tried using the OS recovery CD that is Agilent software version 2.20, but that is giving me the same result. It appears to boot into Windows alright, but does not advance past an infinium splash screen, no menu, nada. The PS2 keyboard I am using freezes up, even the numlock/capslock go unresponsive. Switching the drive over from my 54832B allowed it to boot into XP and I do see waveform acquisition data at least (although it is very slow/laggy to navigate). The front panel buttons and lights do absolutely nothing here even within the selftest menu of the Win XP 54832B drive, and I am not sure if it is a Win XP driver problem or a hardware problem (since I cannot test it in 95). Are there any drivers I maybe need for Win XP that differ from the 54831M and the 54832B which I don't have? Or is there something else likely to be the problem here. I'm thinking there might be a chance the HDD is cooked, although it seems to test ok using a USB IDE adapter in Win 10?

HP 4957A Protocol Analyzer - looking for disks
Hey all, I'm playing with an HP 4957A protocol analyzer and looking for some of the software that came with the ISDN/T1 pods. I know CuriousMarc has some of the standard disks but curious if anyone here has disks for some of the other pods, such as the HP 18281A BRI ISDN pod? Also looking for software/restore disks for Agilent J6803B Network analyzer as well. Thanks, Jeff

Manuals for an HP3456B DMM? 22
Does anybody know where I can find manuals for an HP3456B DMM? The HP site has a manual for the 3456A, how different is the 3456B from the 3456A? Thanks, BobH

8594E Cal Signal not Found ? 15
After replacing battery I entered the Time Base Correction, Frequency Response Correction & Step Attenuator Corrections. Now when I go to perform Cal Freq or Cal Amptd I’m getting a Cal Signal Not Found. I checked the CAL OUT and I’m seeing 300.000824MHz -20dBm on my Spectrum Analyzer. Input using an HP E4432B Signal Generator set 300MHz -20dBm I’m seeing 300.8MHz at -28dBm. As I change the Span I get different frequency’s showing? Andrew

E5052A Power On Test (3.3V Bus Supply) 29
I wonder if anyone here has experience or access to an Agilent E5052A signal source analyser? Mine is about 20 years old and is recently showing signs of unreliability. The main symptom is an occasional power on self test fail and it then reports issues with a 3V3 power supply voltage on the A3 DSP/ADC board where it reads low at typically 2.96V. I think a pass requires >2.96V but this may be firmware dependent. My E5052A is running the latest firmware V2.51. I think this 3V3 supply is common across the backplane but it gets reported as an A3 test in the service menu. The 5V PSU rail also reads low at between 4.7 and 4.8V but this is still a pass (shows true for the test result) Also, for several years now it has shown a stubborn internal spurious at 60 kHz at a very low level. This very slightly spoils any phase noise measurements even though it shows up at about -140dBc then the trace is in phase noise mode in dBc/Hz. I'm not sure what causes this internal 60 kHz term, it may be from a PSU or the display or a divided clock. It may be that the 60kHz spurious term is a feature of this analyser as it is present on all my plots dating back over 13 years. It's not caused by anything nearby to the instrument as it does it regardless of position or proximity to other equipment. Plus the other E5052A I've used in the past (in a different location) is exactly the same. The 60kHz spurious is also present when I swap across to the baseband input even with a very clean LF signal fed to the 0-40 MHz baseband input. So this spurious must be getting in at the ADC if it affects the baseband input as well. I've seen similar on another E5052A that also shows a lowish 3V3 voltage (but it never shows a power on test failure) and it also has the permanent 60 kHz spurious on all phase noise tests on the main RF input. The service menu password is only three characters long and is 'kid' If anyone has access to a healthy E5052A could they enter the service menu and do a manual Power On Test (POT) in the service menus? Then report the 5V and 3.3V results for the A3 module Mine shows anything from 2.91V to 3.05V and I think the pass/fail threshold for the POT is somewhere around 2.96V. The other E5052A I have some access to shows 2.982V to 3.08V and never reports a POT failure. Thanks in advance for any replies Jeremy

Fail over input board for the HP-5087A distribution amplifier 2
Recently saw a you tube video of an HP-5087A with an HP designed (I think) fail over amplifier board. I have never seen any documentation on the board before. The board takes a signal from two of the input channels, say A and B and if the A input fails fails, it switches over to the B input. Going to try a modernized version shortly if there is any interest.

Intermittent REF UNLOCK error message on 8591A Spectrum Analyzer 8
I have just bought an 8591A that has an intermittent REF UNLOCK error message when I use the internal 10 MHz reference. The error comes every 0,5 to 10 second. The internal reference is 10,000 MHz and the amplitude is around 350 mV peak to peak. The waveform is a bit distorted - not a clean sinus wave. The error REF UNLOCK disappears if I connect an external 10 MHz reference - If the amplitude is exactly 130 mV peak to peak. If the amplitude is higher than 140 mV peak to peak, the intermittent error REF UNLOCK comes back. Also if the external reference is adjusted lower than 9,98 MHz or higher than 10,02 MHz the error REF UNLOCK disappears even if the amplitude is higher than 140 mV peak to peak. My 8591A has serial number 3122U01724 and software revision 7.5.91. I have checked the Service Manual but it does unfortunately not contain any drawings of the A25 Counter Lock Assembly. I am very grateful if anybody has any suggestions!

HP 8594E new issue 10
Ok I replaced the battery this am and all went great, yes I did copy the info as the manual states. my new issue is the display as you will see in this video. I thought maybe I missed a connection when I re-assembled so I took all apart and checked and nothing was disconnected or wrong. https://youtu.be/QGJ8quU_MiM?si=6P0sZImvJVhGCgMF The Voltages look good according to the Power Supply indicator lights. D1 - D16 all lite when powered on and go off with the exception on D13 as I believe this is normal? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

RF Alignment Failure in Agilent CXA signal analyzer N9000A 3
I have Agilent CXA Signal Analyzer N9000A, I'm getting these errors, please help. I referred manual and it suggested to check 50Mhz with -24dB, But when I check in my equipment its showing 50Mhz with -60dB. While I trace it out it was across H270(HMC270MS8G) where I was getting 50Mhz with -60dB but near FPGA it is exact 50Mhz with -24dB, so does it represent there is problem with H270 or any other if yes please help me, And any blue print of this will help a-lot.

HP8920B Blowing Fuse 6
Friends, My beloved HP8920B RF Communications Test Set started blowing the 5A AC fuse today. It blows as soon as you push the power switch. I am wondering if there is a common problem I could look for. Tomorrow I may try to see if it will run on 12VDC. It has a connector and switch for DC operation. Any advice appreciated. Thanks! Jeff
