Shorted large filter cap - don't they normally go open?
Hi all, a W&G switching power supply in my SNA1 spectrum analyzer had a large 15mF filter cap with a total short. The screws showed some brown-black goo, otherwise no sign of failure like overheating.

One very minor point, if I may, could the Marconi Sig Gen be a 2042? There were no 404x anything in the Marconi range as far as I am aware... Unless you have discovered something magically unknown.
