If it ran then failed after a little time I would tend to suspect a tantalum capacitor is shorted or shorting.? Keep that in mind when troubleshooting.? The guide might get you to the proper area

I was fortunate enough to receive the 3585b SA recently. When I first picked it up it powered up fine and display appeared to be normal. Getting it home and after setting it up, it again worked fine.
