Re: Step attenuator repair stuff uploaded in files section
I tried to upload Lothar's file in the files section, but it was not successful. So I have provided a link to it on my web site. I have also added some more photos at the end.

Re: Foot Assy for (Re: 7562A Log Voltmeter/Converter)
I spoke casually; I was just distinguishing between the three (known to me) System I sizes. An example of narrow is the 400C/E/F/G. Then you have the medium size, which is a bit more than 1/3-rack.

Re: Foot Assy for (Re: 7562A Log Voltmeter/Converter)
Dave, you describe these as 1/3 wide, but only two fit into a 19" rack adapater (they came out of one with p/n 5060-8764). Or am I missing something here? Dave

Arthur, no I'm not in the USA. I'm based in the UK. I understand what they do, but I don't need that function, and would happily sell them on to a new home rather than scrap 'em. (though I don't think

Re: Foot Assy for (Re: 7562A Log Voltmeter/Converter)
That cabinet design is known as System I, as are the feet, but the only size that's commonly available is the single. The seven-inch bar for the 1/3-wide cabinet is rare; I'm also looking for two for

Re: Step attenuator repair stuff uploaded in files section
I just tried to find that file also, but it doesn't seem to be there. Lothar, is there any chance to re-post it? This would be useful, and I must admit that I had missed the original post. I notice

Darnit - was about to say what a great idea and then - darnit, yes perhaps that would introduce a particulate metal issue... I was thinking a dremel to 'cut' open the epoxied seam perhaps? Mike

Foot Assy for (Re: 7562A Log Voltmeter/Converter)
These had a "front bail/foot" type front #1490-0032 and the rear foot was #5060-0728 built in the late 60's and early 70's ...probably common to other gear of that era Dave & Lynn Henderson ArtekMedia

Re: 7562A Log Voltmeter/Converter
OK, these now look like project boxes to me, and very nice ones too, as they would appear to have spent their life in a rack unit, so aren't bashed around! I would rather like some feet for them (they

Re: 7562A Log Voltmeter/Converter
The 7562A has a crest factor of 5:1, which is between the 10:1 you can get with a thermal converter and the 3:1 you could get with the early analog multipliers. I don't know which it is. Dave Wise

Re: 7562A Log Voltmeter/Converter
Thanks Dave, I also found a write up about it in the October 1968 HP Journal. I suspect that the oven on the A5 board is for one (or both) arms of the thermocouple used for the RMS conversion. I've

The heater is almost certainly for the log element in the FB loop. The temp. stability is needed to stabilize the thing. -John ===============
