Re: 8350B (V7) - no ID command?

Hi.

There appears to be a full user manual here:-

Viewable online, but there are download options in various formats.

From a quick look, from page 3-37 onwards, this is an "old school"
instrument with a non IEEE488.2 or SCPI command set, so no *IDN? etc.

But there are a lot of things you can do with it, but the learning curve
is going to be steep if all you've used are later IEEE488.2 compliant
type instruments.

There is also a digital/analogue external programming port, where you
can control it with various unique digital and analogue signals.

"Enjoy!"

Re: 5350B - transmutation to a 5351B

Hi Don,

The 5350/51/52 all use the same EPROM.
There are some dip-switches on the main board that set the different options.

I have a 5351B with a newer revision of the main board, 05350-60025, where this is selected by S1, next to the XA4B connector.

I have a photo of the inside, where I just barley?can see the switch settings, the switches is marked 1-7
I think this is the settings on my 5351, but can't be sure due to bad pohoto:? 1:0ff, 2:off, 3:off, 4:on, 5:off, 6:off, 7:on??
?
I see in the SM that the older 05350-60008 main board has jumpers instead of dip-switches. But numbering should be the same.

Another difference between the 50 and 51 is the input connector, its N on the 50, but 3.5mm on the 51.

Re: Metrology Grade adapters - HP/Agilent 1250-1745 and 1250-1740 - insertion loss ?

Tim -

Assuming you mean 1250-1745 and -1750, these are both part of the 85033E/400 kit. Any published specifications are in that manual, downloadable from Keysight. They are only spec'd for mechanical dimensions and return loss, the latter of which is listed as a minimum of 28dB and 24dB from DC to 18Ghz for the -1745 and -1750, respectively. Therefore best case insertion loss is 0.01dB and 0.02dB, respectively. Actual insertion losses will be slightly higher due to losses in the adapters themselves not reflected. Can this be zeroed out using the calibrator on your power meter?

What I don't see in the catalog for the adapters, and I cant find after
spending a hour or so googling around, is a specification of insertion loss.

So does any know what the insertion loss is for both the 1250-1745 and
1250-1740 ?

Or, if someone has the equipment, can you measure yours and let me know ?

I don't imagine the IL for these isn't much, probably fractions of a dB,
but I'd like to know what it is, especially at 10GHz.

thanks

Hoping to verify... have my 8350B hooked into my HP-IB (GPIB) and apparently there is no "ID" command.
Have tried all possibilities used over the years and no mention in the manuals.

Seems odd that HP would not include it.

Is this true?

ID (*IDN?) command is a 488.2 call and not implemented
in older 488 instruments?

The html appears to be the groups.io login page. I've checked this is not just my connection by successfully downloading other files.

Does anyone have the CLIP, schematics, or any other service information for the E4418B beyond the service manual available on the keysight site? I think I have a bad power logic section but would appreciate a schematic to trace stuff out if its available?
Thanks,
Marcus

HP System One feet

Has anyone come across a recent source for the older HP System I equipment feet (black with release button, P/N 5060-0767)?? It appears that the market for these has more-or-less dried up.
