Message not delivered
This may sound silly, but I have a member that for some strange reason is getting an error message when trying to send mail.
Below is copied from the mms word document she shared showing the issues she is asking about, and my group isn't set up as
what it shows but is set up as restricted needing to reply to a message that is sent out.
There was a problem delivering your message to [email protected].
Contact the remote server administrator for details. ?
The response from the remote server was: 500 This is an announcement group and only moderators can post to it.? |

I don't have an
answer but I do have some questions!

You say members
must reply to a message that has been sent out, but the group setup (as
shown on the group's front page) is for all members to be able to post and
for replies to be sent to the sender? I notice the
group has exactly 100 members, might some be encountering problems due to
being (or trying to be) the 101st member? best,
Malcolm. On 24 April 2025 01:54:45 (+01:00), Cal via groups.io wrote:

Actually, there are 101 but I have one that is in bouncing status. And this group is one I pay for yearly so don't think that is the problem.
As she has been able to post messages prior to that happening so I'm thinking it is something else altogether going on.
And true all members are allowed to post but in order to join they need to reply to an auto send message I had set up to find out why they wish to join.
As it is set up as a restricted group not that they can just automatically join as it's my way of preventing those that would join to spam the group or
send unsolicited messages, plus to determine which e-mail program they use so that I know how to set them up once I approve their membership.
As it is the group was set up so users that use the same e-mail program the tutorials I write up and keep in the group files can be used and saved into the e-mail program to be shared with other using the same program. where those that use a different e-mail program are not allowed to post as what they share could not be saved/used in the program I and others use if that makes sense and gives you more of an answer. |

Such groups are not allowed. /helpcenter/single/faq/owners/faq-owner_content_not_permitted.htm?
?
I also see that the group was created in 2024 and is only now receiving a flurry of activity. This may have attracted the attention of groups.io administrators.
?
If I were you, I'd prepare for the possibility that CNSGraphicsTuts is under review for violation of the groups.io Terms of Service.

Thanks Bruce but all that is shared though this group is the e-mail stationary and the tutorials that I have created are stored in the groups files for making the stationary to be used.
We don't share any images other than what is shown on the e-mail stationary or extras/tags that some people create to go along with the letter/e-mail creation. I have also posted this original message in the groups managers forum |

Malcolm, The group was never set to announcement only at any time and I checked the activity logs and shows she posted messages for a long time before that happened.
And on the 15th of the month, she changed her status to no mail then changed back to individual messages on the 22nd of April other than that she never had issues before that I could tell under her activity. Plus under email delivery history everything looks okay from what I could see and on 23 of April she had a login link message sent if that means anything or helps to understand what may have happened. |

Is anyone else posting to the group and getting back this same response? If not, then it's unlikely to be a group setting.
?
I'm beginning to question whether she's simply forwarded an error message that came back to her from some other group. Please respond to Malcolm's question as to what happens if she ventures to try again. Past behavior is all well and good but if you want us to help you we need to know what's happening now.

Bruce

*There's a total of ONE POST to this group from July 2024 to March of this year. Since then, there have been 237 of them; despite the fact that you insist your subscribers have been allowed to post from the beginning. Lacking any explanation for this you'll have to forgive me for not taking what you're telling us at face value. |

Bruce, I tend to go in and delete messages older than 10 days from the group plus the member that was having that issue has also posted on this thread with her information. The member is Lynnetta ALLEN and hopefully her information gave give more insight into what could be happening.
Also just to let you know she is the only member that as far as I know has had this problem as she was the only one that has mentioned it to me. |
