A screenshot might be helpful at this point.?

Morning, It would be helpful to receive further information for this. If it is the email service then how would I explore that to fix this? It's an area I'm not familiar with. Thank you, Tana On Mon, Apr 7, 2025 at 12:46?PM Tana Dean via <dscworkspace=gmail.com@groups.io> wrote:

First of all, as an FYI if you're not aware of it, as it states in our home page (/g/Group_Help) Note: This group is operated by volunteers; it is not officially affiliated with Groups.io in any way, and has no administrative access to any group other than this particular group. so there are some things we cannot do as we don't have access to the site's databases. But even if we did, there's no such thing on groups.io (or anywhere else) as "recover an account" when that account no longer exists in the system.
The reason for this is that you yourself are making this more difficult that it needs to be by not answering back with details on what we ask you for, we have some very knowledgeable folk in this group who can figure out solutions to varying problems, but the things is, it's very hard to figure out a solution when you're not told what the problem is, or what one is trying to (really) accomplish. So to summarize the solutions already offered in previous messages in this thread based on the limited and cryptic info you gave us so far: A: Problem: You said you tried the "email me a link to login" and groups.io said no account exists with that old email address. ??? Solution: As stated in a previous reply of mine, log-out from Groups.io and go to the new user registration page at /register and create a new groups.io account using that old address of yours. You can then rejoin the groups you were a member of with that old account and search for, find, and read your old messages. My apologies for not being able to make it simpler than that. B: Problem: You said you have messages from that old account on groups.io you need to access. ??? Solution: One way is to do the solution for A above, or as stated in another previous reply of mine, just join those groups with your current account and you'd still be able to search for, find, and read your old messages. And risking repeating myself, my apologies for not being able to make it simpler than that. Now, just a wild shot in the dark here, but if you used to be a group owner with that old account but that group of yours was banned from groups.io (for whatever reason), you won't be able to get to that banned group's messages, they are gone along with that banned group itself. If that's the case, as they say in NY, fuggetaboutit. So based on what you told us so far, that's all we can do to help, if the solutions already offered will not work for what you're attempting to accomplish, in order for us to help you any further, I'd suggest for you to explain exactly why and what you're trying to accomplish, in full detail pretty-please-with-a-cherry-on-top. In the meantime however, to avoid irritating meself and the rest of the mods any further, not to mention the rest of the group's members, you'll stay in moderation (and most likely have your messages rejected) until you start talking and cooperating and providing the detailed information we ask you for, I mean after all even if many of us enjoy banging our heads on the wall, we have to stop after a while coz this darn drywall we use here in the States is just too fragile. I hope you're not mistaking Groups.io for an email service, that's not what Groups.io is, it's not like Gmail for example, you don't have an inbox and the like on Groups.io as in Gmail and similar.? If you're referring to messages that you have sent to groups in the past from that old email account, you can still read them with this email account, all you need to do is join those groups with this account and you can search for your old messages in those groups' message archives and find them, unless of course if an admin/ moderator deleted them. Groups.io may delete an inactive/dead account due to periodic cleaning but (AFAIK) it doesn't delete the messages that account sent to groups as those are part of those groups' message archives. If I misunderstood what you meant by your reply, please explain in more detail what exactly you're trying to achieve by wanting to revive that old account. Cheers, Christos _.

Hijacking? That's when you reply to an email that has nothing to do with you, asking about another topic, as you did here.? You set your subscription to receive all messages from this group, so you'll get them all, not just those related to the topic you started.

开云体育I'm not quite sure why you're huh-ing especially since this thread is someone else's topic (Karl's), my reply is meant for him, and I doubt your name is also Karl, and additionally you really shouldn't hijack other peoples' threads. Is it because you don't want to receive other messages except the ones for the thread you started, or is it that you didn't quite understand what I'm talking about? If the former, you should change your subscription settings on our group to Follow Only, under the Advanced Preferences section, more info here: /helpcenter/manual/membersmanual/subsettings/Sub_page.htm /helpcenter/manual/membersmanual/subsettings/Sub_EmailDelivery.htm /helpcenter/manual/membersmanual/subsettings/Sub_AdvancedPrefs.htm If the latter, you may want to work a bit on your communication skills and be more clear so others can understand what you're referring to. If that's so then that email account no longer exists in the groups.io databases, more than likely it hasn't been used for such a long time that the system deemed it to be a "dead" email address and it was removed, the system does periodic cleaning. That means that you can now sign up as a new user on groups.io with that same email address and you can start using it. Cheers, Christos |

Thanks for any suggestions! You should also check the Activity Log for the group.? Many times it will tell you why a message didn't get through.? Often it's because someone replied from an address different than they used for their account on your group.

"Permanent Error?"
开云体育Hi Folks,Can anyone explain why ONE member of a group of 400-plus members can't send a reply to any post I make? From: mailer-daemon@... To: (group member) This is an automatically generated delivery Status Notification. Delivery to the following recipient/s failed permanently:? (my email @groups.io)? Reason: Permanent Error" No issues with her replying to other group members, no issues with emailing me directly (not going through groups.io), and apparently it's been happening since she joined the group.? Her email provider is Comcast, and the "Permanent Error" sent to her is coming from Comcast, but I have no way to know if the issue is with the address in groups.io being undeliverable? for some reason, or if her reply is failing some internal Comcast thing because of the address she's trying to send to.? Other members with Comcast not reporting any issues (though most of those are not really active anyway... maybe this is why?) I don't do business with Comcast, so getting any kind of support from them is unlikely, and everything I've checked in my account settings seems fine.? Nobody else is having problems replying to my posts, Comcast or otherwise. Just not sure what direction to head in with this!? Thanks for any suggestions! Karl |
