If that's so then that email account no longer exists in the groups.io databases, more than likely it hasn't been used for such a long time that the system deemed it to be a "dead" email address and it was removed, the system does periodic cleaning.

That means that you can now sign up as a new user on groups.io with that same email address and you can start using it.
