is address reverification still taking place?
Does anyone know if there is likely to be any further action with the address reverification? It seems like nothing has really happened, or even been mentioned since March. I still have a handful of addresses on my lists that haven't completed the process. I sent emails to them earlier in the year, but never heard anything from any of them. I suspect the addresses are no longer in use. I'm inclined to remove the remaining addresses from my lists. Does anyone know of any reason I shouldn't do that? Originally it was said that these addresses would be removed by the system after some amount of time. It seems to me that more than enough time has gone by.

That said, those accounts can't post, can't receive messages, nor do they count against your membership quota. So I suppose they really aren't doing any harm. ?
I suspect Mark is reluctant to act further out of concern about receiving a flurry of irate/overstated messages from group owners ("The system removed all my subscribers!"). That's only a guess, though.

I would love it if they were removed automatically. It artificially inflates my group size (not GMF, another group where I am a co-owner). My impression was that we shouldn't remove them.

I did both. None of them bounced, but none replied either.

I removed all the flagged members from my group long ago. I had no repercussions afterwards.
About a third of the flagged members had reverified themselves so after having sent out three notices I went ahead and removed the remainng flagged ones which amounted to about 17 members. Just FYI . . . Paul M. Owner - CostaRicaLiving == |

If you must attempt to contact members in RI status, don't use the groups.io web site/app to do it.

As those with RI (ie flagged as Reverify initiated) do not receive any posts from the group and haven't done for several months now, plus the majority I have checked have not contributed to the group ever, I see no problem in removing them, they are probably blissfully unaware they are still subscribed anyway, assuming the email address still exists

I didn't deactivate my member notice and I've just has a message from one of the people I removed who was in RI status wondering why he got a message about being removed.? So, the answer is that Groups.io does still send a message if they're in RI status (if you have an active Removed Member notice).

?
How does the removed member properly deal with his RI status? Is there still a link online?
If you restored him, would he still be RI?
Has the member been reading online? Could he get in?
?
So many questions!?

Thanks, Andy. The Reverification Help page says:
?
For domains where no reverifications happened, accounts will be banned from all activity with the thought that they are potential spam traps. Those email addresses cannot login, re-join groups by invitation, direct addition, or request to join.
?
If there is a valid person on one of those domains, they should contact [email protected] to have the domain ban lifted.
?
For domains without such a ban, the user's account will remain, so users removed from their groups can log in directly or by using the "Email me a link to log in" button on the login page. This will re-verify their account. They can then request to join groups or be added via direct addition or invitation.
