How to prevent one person from seeing a single group email?

Hello! We sometimes have birthday surprises or events for a single person within an email group and we don't want them to see the email. What is the best way to temporarily keep that person from seeing the surprise notice? I tried "none" for owner email, but that failed lol. I don't know if it matters if that person is also a moderator. I appreciate any advice, thank you!?

There is none.? Awhile back, someone sort of did it by creating a subgroup, but didn't allow the suprisee to be a member, but that's not guaranteed.

The Moderator can change the persons e mail status to none.? send the message,? then turn it back on.

This won't prevent the person concerned being able to read the message in the archive, neither will it prevent anyone else quoting it in a reply to the group.

Double whammy, you could solve the first problem by deleting the message from the archive but then you can't lock the topic to prevent replies to the group.

I suggest having a birthday committee and communicate among the members of that committee by email, not the group.

I have created a notice and then in Admin, Members, selected the people I wanted to send the message to. I used the Actions, Send Message - pasted the notice into the box. However it will appear in Admin, Activity. So if it is an active moderator, that wouldn't work.

if you are a moderator/owner and your group allows No Mail. You could temporarily change their delivery option and then change it back once the special email has been delivered to everyone?else.?

As stated though if the person happen to look on the website will they still not be able to see it? I really do not see a way of doing this. and I would not want to ruin the surprise.

Thanks and happy Friday.

As mentioned, this is only emailed to those you select and doesn't appear in the message archive. The special guest could see it in Activity, but not every moderator or owner visits activity regularly! And if the "birthday boy/girl" sees it, hopefully they will put on a wonderful surprise face at the event!

How about...just send a separate email to everyone but the target, noting that it's off-list and a surprise? Someone can still blow it, but they'll have to work at it.
