We were three Yahoo groups, when I have my main group moved can I also
add (combine) the second (like a sub group) into one io group?
Yes. At step 2 in the transfer process you would simply name the same Groups.io group as the target for the transfer.
Or, instead of merging them into a single primary Groups.io group, you can create subgroups to your primary group, and transfer some of your Yahoo groups into subgroups of your primary Groups.io group.
What if it¡¯s the same people in all groups, will that mess up the new
group having a lot of the same members.
No problem. Any email address that's already a member of the Groups.io group will simply be skipped when processing the transfer of an additional Yahoo Group.

I've kind of lost track of all the Yahoo Groups you're speaking of, but I don't think there's any technical limit to how many you can transfer into the same Groups.io group. There are no Subgroups in Yahoo Groups, so all of them are on an equal footing in terms of being copied into a Groups.io group.
What if a handful of us were already in the io group (testing)?
As above, that's not a problem. The already subscribed email addresses won't be transferred again - no duplication or other problems will arise.
