Re: #howtoguide Files #howtoguide

Nancy,

I¡¯m on iPad, what app (or something) do I need to have that any member
can read?
The most compatible file format is plain text. In Windows the standard editor for plain text is called Notepad. I'm not sure on an iPad, but possibly your Pages app can either Save As or Export in plain text format.

If formatting (bold or italics, font choices, etc.) is important for the legibility of your files then I second J's suggestion of using PDF format. PDF (Portable Document Format) was originated by Adobe, but they've made the specification public and now many apps can export to it. Perhaps your Pages app can do that. In Windows 10 there's also a standard printer driver that will allow any app to print to a PDF file. Again, I don't use iPad, but there's almost certainly a way for you to produce PDF files on iPad also.
