There may be some confusion here, as the Faceplate on the Gemini 2
is labeled Serial Port 1, Graphics HC and Serial Port 2, Graphics
HC, while the Web interface refers to them as Serial port 0 and
Serial port 1.?? The webs Serial port 1 = the Gemini Serial port 2,
which is the one that you should be using.

You set the baud rates for the serial ports using the Web
inteface.
Goto the Serial link and set serial port 1 to 57600 baud.

Hallo Miguel,
Last night
I received a called from one partner
in the Observatory asking me for a
problem with the Gemini 2... Hand
Control showing "Connecting to

after reprogramation the Gemini worked
propperly, I tested it several times

try to confirm that my partner did a
propper connection... but if really
exists this problem again.. I won?t

Can you tell us what has been done? Is it the
same Gemini board? Is the correct port used, its
baud rate for the HC (57k) set, ...
As
prevention I will do a new SD ram with
the firmware for the Main Board, as I
did it last week.. The only reason
that I would understand is a problem
with the SD.. any advice?
The SD card should be freshly formatted at the

Yes, and added a lot of things. Alas, I was busy

Take a look at http://www.dd-wrt.com
you can reflash allot of routers with this and give them the
ability to turn into bridged routers or repeaters in addition to access points
This update will allow you to put multiple routers onto the same

People who use GCC, probably simply execute another 'goto' to the same object after the meridian flip. It's easy and takes very little time.
If you really feel this is a major issue, maybe you should contact Daniel? This is something he would have to change in GCC. Gemini already provides a command to flip to the object coordinates (:MM).

I haven't played with this on a PC in a while.
it used to be that Windows did not create a proper bridge (even
though they call it that) between the two networks
i.e.? the wireless may be on 192.168.1.2 and the Gemini would be
on 192.168.2.2? (just an example)
windows did not bridge these to allow NetBIOS through so even
though you can connect to the Gemini via IP the NetBIOS name would not work
?
Prior to Vista (yuk) that was true,? have not looked to verify
since personally

Thanks Doug - that's good to know.

since it's a client side driver (i.e. it's not driving hardware) it shouldn't have a problem.
I did a similar thing for a Atmel usb driver some time back and never had a problem
FWIW: Win7 64bit has a 32bit thunking layer to allow 32bit apps to work just like previous versions of windows.
if it drove the action hardware I might worry but not in this case.

Tom, That did it - thanks! Anything I should watch out for with it being a modified 32 bit driver?

Hey Tom, Well, unfortunately it quite that simple ;) I do have a router with open ports, but unfortunately it's not accessible to my telescope. I run a couple wireless networks at home and access everything that way. I was hoping I would be able to use a cross-over cable to connect to the laptop and let the laptop connect to network. Does that make any sense? If that's a recipe for disaster, let me know!

Next step: snag a cross over cable and play with the ethernet side of it. Then make suitable sacrifices for clear skies and maybe even get to use it! Then the one piece worm blocks and on and on...
Thanks again! Lee

Re: Geographic location on Gemini 2
Hi 搁别苍é, ok.. if you confirm when it is solved ti will be great. Spanish translation: Sin problema !! ... but I will need time for this, the Gemini 2 is now going to the observatory.. If you have a document with all the menus and options in the Hand Control I can work on it.. Regards! ? Miguel Angel Pérez Hernández Alpha Cygni S.L.

Thank
you very much Tom,
I have sent an email to my partner in the observatory, I have not the
Gemini 2 in my hands yet..
搁别苍é, please, as soon this bug is fixed.. let us know..
I will, maybe tomorrow, since I'm just implementing some new
functionality.
In the meantime, as a workaround, just tap the Latitude value a second
time and ENT, (each time reverses the sign).
BTW, if you want and find the time, you can send me the Spanisch
translations for all that's on the screens ;-)

Thanks!

I might have found a temporary work around.? If you? tap the Latitude
box, and when the enter screen comes up, just tap the "ent" without
changing anything else, will return to the site screen with the sign
reversed.

You are correct. Entry of any +value into the Lattude setting box comes
back with a negative value on the hand controller.
The web setting pages are working correctly.
I am sure 搁别苍é will jump on this small bug soon.

everybody,
I have tried to put our geographic location on the Gemini 2 Hand
Controller. I think have readen an email from 搁别苍é Goerlich explaining
that in the new Gemini West value is negative instead positive value as
the old version. Is it correct?
On Latitude option I have tried to put +28:34 but when I put "set" and
the HC comes back to the previous screen the value is negative.. Does
somebody know the reason? Maybe I?m doing something wrong.. but I tried
several times (with "+" or simply only 28)..?
Thanks!!

Re: Geographic location on Gemini 2
Miguel, Tom,
Thank you, I'll fix this. The problem is the LX200 protocol, it sends
the values with reverses signs.
I have to adapt this at every place where it is used.
