Re: When will we have a manual for Gemini 2?
Connection was successful (and uneventful! :) ) While I was able to connect to the web page and change the name of my location on the HC, I did not see any entry for Gemini following the tree "Control

familiarizing with Gemini II -> G1 L4?
Upgrading from a G-11 no GOTO, awaiting delivery. Would it be helpful to read the Gemini I level 4 manual to familiarize myself with G II capabilities (in addition to the G II quick start guide), or

Re: When will we have a manual for Gemini 2?
My HC says Feb 13 2010 for build. It's a problem for me to get the whole G-11 to the router to connect it. Would it be OK to just bring the Gemini 2 box (instead of the whole mount) to the router. Of

Re: When will we have a manual for Gemini 2?
PS We also need to know what version of the firmware you have. You can kind of tell at the bottom of the hand controller when it is first turned on. Tom

Re: When will we have a manual for Gemini 2?
I would not recommend that. The laptop cannot provide an ip address for the gemini to find. Please plug the Gemini 2 into the router. Only the router can provide a DHCP address to the Gemini 2. The

Re: When will we have a manual for Gemini 2?
Many thanks for the helpful replies here. Other duties have taken me away from Gemini today but I will work on getting it connected to my computer network. I guess I'll just have to screw my courage

Re: When will we have a manual for Gemini 2?
You can also connect the computer to the Gemini directly with an ethernet cable and as long as your computer as a static IP address in the same subnet as the Gemini, you should be able to talk to it.

Re: When will we have a manual for Gemini 2?
Terry Most routers is designed to provide IP addresses to computers that connect to it using DHCP protocal. If it was not for that you would really have a hard time connecting your laptop wireless to

Re: When will we have a manual for Gemini 2?
Terry You will also not be able to rename the sites at this time, using the hand controller. I don't think ASCOM driver let's you do that either. You say that you had problems. I would bet that when

Re: When will we have a manual for Gemini 2?
Hi Terry, Gemini should interface smoothly to any Ethernet router, but of course if you've had problems with other devices, I can understand your reluctance. Gemini 2 should be perfectly usable

Re: When will we have a manual for Gemini 2?
Tom: I have a concern about connecting Gemini to the ethernet. I recently installed a new wireless router and things did not go well. The problem was getting the proper IP address. My ISP had to get

Re: When will we have a manual for Gemini 2?
Terry The USB connection WILL NOT get you the the Web Interface. The only way to get to it is through the Ethernet connection. Tom

Decisions, decisions, decisions
Fairly new to the group but I've been running a G11 non Gemini for a few years. I'm almost in a position to add Goto to my older G11 but, after comparing the costs of adding Gemini-2 with the Maxon

Re: When will we have a manual for Gemini 2?
Yes to use the USB port instead of the RS-232 port to connect the Gemini to a computer, you would need to download the USB drivers. The USB port will allow connection to a PC just like the RS232 does,

Re: When will we have a manual for Gemini 2?
Further to my message I just posted, I see details on downloading the driver Gemini-II.inf Have done so and am ready to connect via a USB cable rather than an RJ45.

Er, no! I did not understand that was required at all. I believe I saw something about downloading driver(s) in this group a while back That was for USB conectivity to ASCOM IIRC. Also something about
