Thanks Chip and Paul,
?
It looks like I'm going to get some clear weather for the next couple of nights.? I'll upgrade to Level 6.12, reset the HGM to defaults, double check revesal check boxes on hand controller, web interface, etc.? Provide logs if it still failing.? I will let you know the results.

Thanks,

Re: Gemini 2 handset will not connect to Gemini 2

So many things can go wrong, for sure it is always good to be able to swap HC and mainboard for faster diagnostics.

Thinking about this, the simplest way to produce this symptom (HC tries to connect and reboots after a while) is to plug in the HC cable into the wrong serial port with different bit rate settings...

So the Ethernet test may help, but not sufficiently for all possible reasons.

Open the case up and remove and reseat the micro SD card.? Power up and see if the Gemini boots normally.? If it does not contact Losmandy on Monday you may have a bad micro SD card.??

Oh,. I forgot to ask as it seems like a long shot but can you talk to the Gemini using the Ethernet port?? If so this would mostly isolate the issue to the HC and cable.??

Which is why I said "mostly" isolated to the HC and cable.? Even if all the HC circuit I/O on the Gemini had failed they could still operate their mount using Gemini 2 over the Ethernet port via router or other Ethernet toWi-Fi or BT bridge device like SkyFi or Nexus II.? But the main point was to isolate and go from there.??

Re: Upgrading Gemini L6 to L6.02 or L6.12

Mike, I think you should try to upgrade to the latest firmware and then, reset to defaults, like Chip suggested. There was nothing that I¡¯m aware of in 6.02 or later releases that should affect DEC motion, except for possibly the reversal setting.
?
if you do and try calibration and it still fails, please change trace setting to maximum and generate and share the ASCOM driver log, as that could help figure out what¡¯s going on:

Hi Mike,?
?
I know there was a way to reverse the direction of travel in L5.x through the web server UI but it must not have been an option visible in the HC until L6.x.? AFAIK users have always been able to reverse direction at least in L5.x or the folks who installed the Mclennan gearboxes could not have done so.?

Re: Gemini 2 handset will not connect to Gemini 2

Jay,

It looks as if the bootloader has difficulties to access the SD card and delays the startup of the main board, while the HC is waiting and trying to communicate again and again. If your board still has the old bootloader, there is a new one available working well with newer and higher capacity SD cards. Or maybe just carefully positioning the SD card or even taking it out of its holder helps.

Catalog Explanations

G'morning,
After building a model and setting limits last wknd., I was able to get some observing in last night. My Goto's were putting my object in the FOV of an 8mm/122x eyepiece. Although not quite centered. No biggie, as I'm awaiting some parts to do maintenance, clean, regrease, etc. I'll re-model, PA, and balance then. But here is my query. I wanted to go to Beta Monoceritis, a very pretty triple star. In the catalogs I didn't know where to look for it. I didn't know the SAO number or the STF designation for it. Thanks to Sky Safari on my phone I was able to get that info and away I went. Many of my Double Star lists, Atlases don't have SAO's or are not in the STF( STT, Bu ) Anyway, is there a catalog for Bayer designations, Alpha, Beta, Gamma, etc.? Most of the catalogs in the HC are easy( I am not connected to a PC yet, HC only ), Messier, NGC, Caldwell, but what are "Combined_Constellation_Stars", or PN( Planetary Nebula? ) catalogs? An explanation of the various catalogs would be a nice feature on the Gem 2 Website and a tutorial on how to use them. I do a lot of outreach and right now it is Galaxy season. Unless you have a light bucket, Galaxies are boring to show/look at. While double stars are a fun objects to show people, especially with different/contrasty colors. Iota Cas is another good one. I guess my question really is, Which catalog do I look for Bayer designations in? I know I can build my own catalogs, but I'm not ready to do that.
Kevin

Tthe version is correct, but it sounds like you may have some installation issues if the program crashes when switching to the debug tab. Can you try doing a complete uninstall and then reinstall? Don¡¯t just delete files, use Windows to uninstall it.

Re: Upgrading Gemini L6 to L6.02 or L6.12

?
Hi Michael,
?
It's odd that PEC is not working. The L6.12 release was specifically reworked to correct a PEC weirdness and I'm sure Rene has tested it carefully.? So your gear choices likely have nothing to do with this issue.? I use the ASIAIR sans PEC so this is not something I should see.??
?
But maybe there is some other weirdness going on. Did you use GFU to do your update or copy the file over using ftp and pointing the UI to point at and upload the new file?? If this is your method maybe something in here went sideways.? If you did not use GFU try it.? GFU is virtually foolproof, not that you're a fool but sometimes it helps to try something different of having issues.??
?
Just trying to figure it out?
