Re: Good press the g106 is getting lately.
Hi David, check out SydneyOwl/g90toolkit on GitHub. He's been looking at the g90, which I believe shares a lot of commonality with the g106. It's too good a radio to let the software cripple it.

Re: Good press the g106 is getting lately.
I'm a happy owner of one, after the latest firmware, and a simple modification of the microphone, this little radio work very well!
The mic mod I did is drilling a bigger hole where the mic element is

Re: Good press the g106 is getting lately.
Agreed Randy. I bought one a few months ago when Radioddity had a decent sale on, as a rig to take on the road for POTA and avoid beating up my "real" radio. The reviews and press I've seen were

I would assume that you guys have been seeing some of the new reviews on the g106 and they have been encouraging. When people take into account what the little radio costs and it's capabilities it's

Re: Digital Modes with G-106 using simple two transistor VOX
I've got it down to zero transistors. I bought the following cable on eBay:
"FT8/FT4/JT65/PSK Audio DATA Interface Cable XIEGU G90 X5105 G106C HF
Transceiver". The cost was $16.90 including shipping.

Digital Modes with G-106 using simple two transistor VOX
To operate a Xiegu G-106 on digital modes such as WSPR or FT-8 you don’t need the DE-19 accessory. This simple VOX circuit passes audio and keys the G-106 PTT when transmit audio is present.

Thanks. For now I’ll just get a mono-to-stereo adapter. Mono to both sides of the headset.

Re: Headphones
Hey Tony,
Yes it's a mono, I suppose because the speaker is a single in the mic... but also probably cost savings...
You'll see here in the forum there's been some posts by the CW/DATA heads here

Re: microphone
Well since its a electret condenser like in most mics, i would say that might be the range of voltage on it.maybe the minimum?

Re: microphone
David, I just received the microphone thanks for the information.
I see it requires 3VDC but appears to have more output than others.
Unclear what the G106 output has. ?Of course I had the hole
