Re: problem with my FT857D
Hi Bob, The reset procedures are listed on page 117 of the manual. There are 3 options depending on what you want to reset. Remember after any reset to enable menu 1 to get the full menu set,

Interesting solution: I uploaded the programming into RTSystems programmer and found errors in programming (¡°DCS¡± activated rather than ¡°Tone¡± for example). I changed the programming to the

Re: problem with my FT857D
Try disconnecting and reconnecting both ends of the cable between the main body of the radio and the head multiple times, just in case there's a bit of oxidation present. Let us know if, and how, you

Re: problem with my FT857D
Hi Bob, Mobile radios can sometimes do funny things. For instance, if you start the vehicle with the radio already turned on it can cause a glitch which can screw up the radio. This is normally fixed

Re: FT857D mobile tuner
I've been using an LDG YT-100 tuner with my Yaesu FT-857D. However, recently the fuse that lets 12V to pass through the CAT cable to the tuner burnt out. I will try to replace it this week, hopefully

I use this configuration as well, with a DigiRig mobile and 857D cables. ThIs is actually a better configuration because the rear CAT jack is perilously close to the antenna jacks and, like the

Re: CAT Cable USB for FT 857D
There is an undocumented CAT control port for the FT-857D through the microphone Jack. You can find it with a google search. It took me about an hour to make the device on a bread board exactly as
Re: FT857D mobile tuner
Hi all, For portable operation I use a Kenwood AT-120. No problem with battery consumption as it is a manual tuner. I also have an ATU-100, built from a kit (I actually have a couple of them as I

For that same reason I use the Z-11 ProII in my car, tucked between the driver's seat and door, for when I want to go HF CW mobile. No power cord and small enough not to impede power-seat movement.

Re: FT857D mobile tuner
The ATAS100 is a little dodgy to tune without tuned counterpoises, but my understanding is that the ATAS120 is much better at tuning with radials. Funny, I¡¯ve been beating my head against the wall

I second Zach's post. And if you are lucky enough to have a choice between both the original AT-897 and the AT-897Plus, by all means purchase the Plus. at-897pfs2 JPEG Image ¡¤ 9 KB 73, Kent K9ZTV

Re: FT857D mobile tuner
I was lucky to get an AT-897 made by LDG. It screws onto the side of the FT897D. You can also make it mount on the FT-857, It works on both. It is a great tuner. You can still find used ones around.
