Re: 857D-HRD disconnection on 40 mts #cat
Thank you Barron But I am using it. Almost all the cable (Data and Power) is using looped beads or single beads. Still it is troubling. Any will carry on investigating. Hope can be done with it. 73s

Re: 857D-HRD disconnection on 40 mts #cat
It has little to do with the SWR seen by the transceiver, but rather the RF in the shack. A few ferrites on the USB cable(s) and the CAT may help. If you have one that you can make several loops

Ron, You were spot on!? It was the chip fuse.? ?I had terrific service from Yaesu in Los Angeles. Sent it in on July 19 and got it back fixed on August 16th.? ?VERY reasonably priced as well.

Re: CAT cable recommendations
Thanks. I was considering the RT software (I have it for various other radios) so that seems to be the answer. Paul Braun WD9GCO Anchor, Amateur Radio Newsline Certified Music Junkie

Re: CAT cable recommendations
I can confirm that the RT systems Yaesu-specific cable will work, and is likely the best option. A warning: generic cables, and cables for other radios, such as Kenwoods, with the mini-DIN connector

Re: Keeping the 857D Screen For Long Life
Not to belabor the subject, but mine is mounted on an air-conditioner louver via a ProClip. It stays as cool as I do. Whether this has prevented display issues, I don't know. 73, Kent K9ZTV

I live in Central Florida. I had my head unit mounted low on the front console on my Honda Element. It was always out of direct sunlight. I even had a soft cloth covering it when I wasn¡¯t using it.

You can try putting you AC as cold as it will go and see if the screen gets better. Or put it in the fridge and see what happens. I had mine fixed a few years ago and have had in a backpack since to

From the sound of things, that could be as simple as a solder joint refusing to pass electrons until heat expands it. I've brought radios back to life, cured hums, and surprised myself on several
