Re: Zebra Stripes fixed in my 857D

Re: Zebra Stripes fixed in my 857D
Also, if that doesn't do it.. you may try the fingers that attach to the LCD and last resort, hit the Display driver IC with a -little-heat.. Also I read somewhere that that lens? is directional..

Re: Zebra Stripes fixed in my 857D
OK - video to follow showing the re-flow - nothing to loose here as my display is very bad - if this is a fail I will buy a new assembly before they disappear! Fingers all crossed - safety gear on!

You actually have to deconstruct a bit further. on the picture on the right there is a black paper tab in the middle that is stuck to the bottom of the board.. Carefully peel that back.. from the back

Re: Zebra Stripes fixed in my 857D
That's awesome. When I heard the 857 was officially discontinued, I bought another control head because mine started having the stripes. I'm going to try this on the bad one to see if it clears it up.

Re: Need help - fuses / power issue
By fusing at the battery you protect both the radio and the wiring in case of a radio failure or a short to the wiring. By fusing both positive and negative you protect the radio if another high

What do you mean by "longer period of time?" Remember, the purpose of the fuses is only to protect the radio in case of a short, thus preventing a fire. In the case that you develop a short without

Re: Need help - fuses / power issue
At some point it was discussed and recommended to fuse BOTH positive and negative leads, especially in mobile installation. In my opinion unnecessary and to be truthful? I woudl NOT use fuses at all
