Did the flex/ribbon cable not melt when you hit it with hot air?
Well I've had my 857D for about 9 years and finally took it apart to see if I could fix the zebra stripes.?
It took a little patience taking it apart but not too bad.?
There is an ASIC display driver on a polyimid flex that connects to the circuit board. By re-flowing the connections on the flex to the circuit board All the stripes were gone.?
I used a hot air rework tool that I had bought on Amazon and did left side contacts then right so the flex would not pop all the connections off.?
Hopefully it will retain for another 9 years. Not sure why this happens.. perhaps a bad type of solder???
This was a fairly easy fix so thought I would share.? Perhaps everyone has already done this.?
