Thank you for the post. I have loaned out my 857 to a newer ham. When I get it back, I'll bring it to work where we have hot air rework stations.?
The idea of working one side, then the other, will be helpful.?

There is an ASIC display driver on a polyimid flex that connects to the circuit board. By re-flowing the connections on the flex to the circuit board All the stripes were gone.?
I used a hot air rework tool that I had bought on Amazon and did left side contacts then right so the flex would not pop all the connections off.?
Hopefully it will retain for another 9 years. Not sure why this happens.. perhaps a bad type of solder???
This was a fairly easy fix so thought I would share.? Perhaps everyone has already done this.?
