Re: Speaker for FT-857D
开云体育I’m looking for a good HF speaker. I’m currently using the MFJ-281 which is excellent for VHF and up, and not too bad on HF. But a good HF speaker with DSP will definitely trump the MFJ-281. ? 73, ? --Hank ? ? ? From: [email protected] <[email protected]> On Behalf Of Thierry via groups.io

Re: The first FT-857
Thanks Eric. My 857 must be a "D" model from 2010 then by the serial number# 0E200012.
I need to mod it to operate on the 60 meters channels. The 857 sure is a great rig for being a 20 year old model. -- 73 de w8nsi jim? qrparc #17019, fpqrp #4319 dahdahdahditditdahditdahditdah [oink] --- FT-818ND, EFHW wire FT-857 alternate portable and base rig |

Re: cs2140401 panel screen Spare
If Yaesu were to under cut their dealers the dealers would abandon the Yaesu product line knowing that everyone would buy direct if that will be cheaper. That would mean that the Yaesu products would not be at dealers who were selling the other product lines and in the end that would be fatal to Yaesu. Manufacturers who will sell direct, many will not, always use their Suggested Retail Price. Nobody in the industry expects people to actually buy at the Suggested Retail Price. It's a complete fiction used to make the dealer's price look better than it actually is. Let's not get into the "Fair Trade" price because that is just price fixing and it makes me mad. It is not at all unusual for the dealer price to be lower than the buy direct price.?

This is quite common with OEMs. You have to remember, their primary sales channels are distributors, and they want to protect those channels. If the manufacturer were to offer lower prices than their distributors (which they could do, as you point out), there would be no reason for the distributors to sell their products. This is true across many industries, perhaps all industries where distribution is not commonly direct.
It's simply a matter of business relationships, not unique to Yaesu. |
Re: cs2140401 panel screen Spare
Wholesale vs Retail pricing. Being a dealer Radioworld is buying at wholesale and selling below retail. When you just call into Yaesu, they sell to you at MSRP so that the dealer that buy at wholesale can make a profit.

You're thinking that common sense comes into play here. It might be that Radioworld have sat on some stock for a while that was bought prior to price increases! I bought a spare panel from Radioworld, it comes with the rotary encoder too, I thought it was a good investment. Cheers, Mark. On Wed, 13 Oct 2021 at 14:11, <Damianswain@...> wrote: Hi Mark, -- |
Re: cs2140401 panel screen Spare
Hi Mark,
I know about the continuous 5% discount at Radioworld, but what I'm trying to establish is, why do Yaesu themselves (who manufacture the panel) charge significantly more than Radioworld? Radioworld are a business so are making profit buying direct from Yaesu, so Yaesu are charging well over the odds & it makes no sense. |
Re: cs2140401 panel screen Spare
Sorry to bump an old topic, but I deemed there no point in publishing a new post just to announce the following.
I've bought a few HF rigs & other bits from Radioworld above & have had good service each time. I was going to purchase a spare panel from here, but thought I'd first call Yaesu UK as I presumed it would be cheaper to buy direct as opposed to from Radioworld - a web retailer. Very wrong! Yaesu wanted ?155, so Radioworld are cheaper by quite a margin - & being a business, they'll be in profit. What on earth is that all about when purchasing direct from Yaesu? |
