If Yaesu were to under cut their dealers the dealers would abandon the Yaesu product line knowing that everyone would buy direct if that will be cheaper. That would mean that the Yaesu products would not be at dealers who were selling the other product lines and in the end that would be fatal to Yaesu. Manufacturers who will sell direct, many will not, always use their Suggested Retail Price. Nobody in the industry expects people to actually buy at the Suggested Retail Price. It's a complete fiction used to make the dealer's price look better than it actually is. Let's not get into the "Fair Trade" price because that is just price fixing and it makes me mad. It is not at all unusual for the dealer price to be lower than the buy direct price.?
