Re: ATAS-120a install with K-400 Mount
The problem with most modern cars is they're pretty much made of tin foil, I have a mag mount on my Volvo and applying or removing it flexes the roof.
The same on my Land Rover but I? made a mount that bolts into the roof rails along the side, there's no movement in that. Martyn M0TEB |
ATAS-120a install with K-400 Mount
Don Goodhart
I am installing the ATAS-120a on a Hummer H3. ?It seems that no matter where I install the Diamond K-400 the Metal on the Body Flexes. The Body Flex Movement in the Antenna in the amount of 1 - 2 inches. ?I have installed the Antenna on the side of the hood, and the top of the Hood. Plus the rear of the rear back door. ?Everything on the Body Flexes. Can anyone Help with the installation of the Diamond K-400 mount??

Re: Diamond Antenna MX62M
开云体育The other thing you need to be certain of is that there is a DC path through the diplexer from the HF port to the antenna port so that the ATAS antenna can be controlled from the radio. ? 73….Eric VK2VE. ? From: [email protected] <[email protected]> On Behalf Of Ron Jakubowski via groups.io

Re: Radio Pigtail
开云体育Don't apply voltage to the brown wire, it might not end well. Page 32 of the user's manual specifies connecting it to ground.Randy (KE5EOT, WRJS252) ARRL, QCWA, ARES, RACES, ROWH On 10/11/22 5:57 PM, J.D. Barron wrote:

Re: Radio Pigtail
开云体育If you ground the brown wire that maximum power output is reduced to 20 watts. It was first used in the 897. When the battery was installed, the power was reduced to 20 watts to lengthen battery life. Since the 857 and 897 share a motherboard, the brown wire was made available on the 857 series.Randy (KE5EOT, WRJS252) ARRL, QCWA, ARES, RACES, RO On 10/11/22 5:43 PM, L B Little wrote:
Can you tell me what the brown wire is for in the connector? |
Re: Radio Pigtail
This is the plug that is on the power pigtail. It is called a HF 6 plug.
The side that is chassis mounted is quite often the real problem as they wear are jerked around and not replaced.? Here is a link to the pigtail connector: Here is the link to the chassis mount part: These parts are manufactured to the original specifications and I have used them to repair problems like you are having. Later Japanese radios use the 4 pin connectors that have better contacts and give better service, in my opinion. There are also plugs that look the same, but the sockets are not quite the same sizes and all of them tend to get poor connection and the resultant heat causes them to lose temper and tension. |
Re: Radio Pigtail
开云体育You have to make sure the locking mechanism inside the powerpoles is engaged. Sometimes it takes a little extra push to get that "click" that ensures that the connector is all the way in. Once it's engaged, they won't come apart unless you release the connector. I always listen for the click and give them a tug just to make sure.Randy (KE5EOT, WRJS252) ARRL, QCWA, ARES, RACES, ROWH On 10/11/22 4:41 PM, rkstratt@...

Re: Radio Pigtail
I made a 3 pin Power Pole, red, black and brown, then made a power pole jumper that with the brown wire shorted that could be thrown in the middle if I wanted to used it that way.? ?When I got the radio, and went to hook up the factory cable, it pulled off in my hand.?

My 857D pigtail out of the radio has issues with 6 pin connector. You can barely move it and it cuts radio on and off. I ordered a pigtail from Yaesu but night take 6 weeks to get it. Any other sources you are aware of to get the pigtail? 73 WB5YDA |
Re: Radio Pigtail
I did just that. I used #12 wire and found it sufficient. Just about everything I have around here that runs off 12 volts DC uses 30A Powerpoles. 73, Zack W9SZ On Mon, Oct 10, 2022 at 8:16 PM Dave Mueller AA3EE <dmueller421@...> wrote: At that point, I'd replace the pigtail with Powerpoles. 开云体育Don ... Be sure you know the difference between a duplexer and a diplexer. ? They are not the same and often confused.? What, exactly, are you wanting to accomplish? 73, Kent K9ZTV On Oct 10, 2022, at 8:34 PM, Don Goodhart <n6eur08@...> wrote:
