Re: Daniels Geneology

Hi, Eleanor.

I can't help you with this line, at least at this time.? It has no known
connection to my O'Daniel, Daniel, Daniell lines in SC.

Don't know how much gen research experience you have, so I'll offer a
couple of suggestions if I may.

1.? Were you familiar with or work with folks in the DANIEL List on
rootsweb, com?? Ancestry.com bought out Rootsweb and terminated this
terrific collaboration site.? You can still access the Daniel-L Archives
on rootsweb and search for data there.? Much was shared and archived on
numerous Daniel lines.

2.? Kevin Daniel is the project manager of the Daniel DNA Project.?
Reach him at
If you haven't had an appropriate gen Y-DNA test on a direct male
descendant, Kevin can advise what you may need go get.? A basic Y-DNA
test of 12 markers is totally worthless for discovering family lines, 67
markers and higher 111 markers are more likely to help.? Problem is that
unless someone directly related to your Daniel line has tested, there
can be no match. They would have to be from Robert Seth's brothers, if
any, or from descendants of Robert Seth's uncles, if any.
He is also moderator of the new free Daniel research site at email
address:? Daniel groups.io
You will have to join the group, but it's free and you may find help
from contacts there.

3.? There are many records available online at the SC Archives at

Large amounts of info there including land grants and old last wills and
testaments.? Search by surnames, places.

4. I have a copy of "S. C. WILLS" an Index to "South Carolina Wills 1670
- 1853 or later" Tell me what districts or counties Robert Seth lived in
early SC and I can check for surnames county book and page info.?
Nothing else in the book, it is an index only.? You may be able to find
it in a library, author Mary Bondurant Warren.
Angus Patterson is listed in Barnwell County Book 2 Page 236.

I did find Seth Daniel and A. Patterson listed as witnesses in the 7
June 1835 LW&T of William Owen, recorded 19 Mar 1836 in Barnwell Will
Book "C", Page 157.

As you may know, I did have family in Barnwell District, SC.

Best regards,
Bob Daniell

Hi, my name is Eleanor Bateman. I am working on tracing my family

Robert Seth Daniels, born in 1809, in South Carolina. All we know
about his parents is that they died while he was still young, and he
was adopted by an Angus Patterson. I was wondering if you wouldn't
happen to know of any Roberts who were orphaned at a young age around
then? I saw that y'all have done extensive research into the Daniels
line. If there's nothing easy to find don't worry about it - I just
was hoping you might have the missing link :)
If it helps at all, here's the info that I have on him and his downline:

Regina Hill January 29th, 1833 in Dallas Co. AL. Died 08/29/1878, in

? ? ?Meek Levelle Daniels?(10/17/1871 - 08/30/1923) married Etta
Harrell?(08/27/1877 - 11/22/1957).
? ? ?Milburn Levelle Daniels (05/24/1906 - 05/19/1947) married Buelah
Belle Joss (12/08/1910 - 04/18/2004)
? ? ?Paul Rooney Daniels (07/14/1941 - 08/21/2018) married Evon Taylor

(04/16/1962 - present)
? ? ?Me! Eleanor Dawn (Daniels) Bateman, (born 07/14/2000).

Feel free to use any of that info if it's helpful at all to you :) I
really appreciate your time, and again, don't worry about it if
there's not a quick, easy answer. But if you happen to have any info
at all about Robert Seth, please let me know!!

Father of Peter and Sydnor Mabry Daniel?

I have never seen a definitive answer to this question. Some say Joseph Jr., some say husband of Sarah, Joseph¡¯ sister.
i am great grandson of George Sidney Daniel.

Re: DORAN - DANIELS Family Photograph

It looks like Lucy Daniels was born in England in the 1830s and her family emigrated to Missouri between 1850 and 1860. She did have siblings in Missouri, though, so maybe there are some Daniels who will recognize the names in your query. Thanks for posting to the Daniel group. Good luck..

Re: Thomas Daniel of Tennessee

Does not ring a bell. I have looked at Daniels in this? vicinity, but a few decades earlier. No connection to the Daniels in your post, though.

Kevin?

Thomas Daniel of Tennessee

Hello Group,

Hoping all is safe and secure at this time.

Does anyone connect with Thomas Daniel b. ca. 1795 Tennessee d.. ca. 1845 Williamson, Illinois

Thomas married Nancy Hardige/Hardrige.? He obtained the marriage license on December 16, 1814 in Caswell County, NC
A Martin Daniel was the second signer on the Marriage Bann.? Thomas signed "with his mark".

Their daughter, Elizabeth Ann Daniel m. Daniel Boone James.? Daughter Agnes Daniel married Philmore/Filmore James.? Son Reuben/Rubin Daniel married Harriet James

Thanks for your time,

Berlene Jacques

Re: John M. Daniel(s)

Thank you for your response. Yes, I did in fact mean Amite County, Mississippi,? John and Eliza married in Amite County but after at least the first 3 children were born they ended up in Catahoula Parish, Louisiana where John died about 1836 and Eliza (after marrying 2nd James Ratcliff) died about 1838.? Initially Eliza's brother Willey Jackson took guardianship of the 4 children after not being well cared for by Eliza's 2nd husband, and later Josiah Causey took guardianship of the two girls, still minors.? Willey and Josiah were both in Amite County.

William married and he and his family moved to Dermott, Arkansas, and Josiah married and he and his family moved to Upsher, Texas.? Sarah married Remzen Jenkins (my 2nd g-grandparents) and after Remzen died she married her first cousin, Dr. Thomas Jackson.? She died in Amite County, as did her sister Nancy, who married Gardner Sleeper.? Elizabeth died at about the age of 3,? I am pretty confident on the generations below John and Eliza, I'm disappointed that I can't look any farther back based upon my DNA test so will look into any Daniels males that may be willing to help.?

I knew this was a long shot, but I am so curious about John's family.that it has become a mission for me to find out more information, lol.

I will keep digging.

Wendy

Re: John M. Daniel(s)

Hi Wendy,
??? I don't have a John M. Daniels in my files who matches your John. I assume that by Amite, MS you meant Amite County, MS? I found J. M. Daniel in the 1830 Amite County, MS census. I did not find any Daniel/Daniels in the 1840 or 1850 censuses of that county. I also did not find any John, William or Josiah Daniel/Daniels in the 1850 or 1860 censuses that match them. Do you have a bit more information about them? I did find Causeys in the 1820, 1830 and 1840 Amite County, MS censuses.
?? Your DNA testing is all autosomal DNA testing which can only reliably determine matches about 3 to 4 generations back, if you have good primary record evidence, so your DNA tests will probably not be very useful. If you can trace a direct male Daniel/Daniels descendant of John, and get them to take a Y DNA test, that may show which Daniels lines you do, or do not, connect to. Y DNA is passed only from father to son, and changes very slowly over time, so is very useful for tracing direct paternal ancestry.

Best,

Kevin

John M. Daniel(s)

I am looking for information on John M. Daniel(s).? We think he may have been born before 1802, possibly in either South Carolina or Virginia. He married Eliza (Elizabeth) Jackson (b Abt. 1801 d 15 Aug 1839) on 13 Jan 1825 in Amite, MS.? He is listed in Williams Causey's Will as his grandson.? He was apparently brought to Amite, MS with William Causey, presumably from South Carolina, around 1805.? Our assumption is that his mother was a Causey and his father was a Daniels and that both of his parents had died before William Causey took him to Amite.? I have no information on either of his parents.? Since William Causey lived in South Carolina prior to going to Amite, MS we assume that is where John M. lived with his parents.? Unfortunately there are no South Carolina records for that time frame available.? It is believed that William Causey was in Virginia prior to going to South Carolina and so I think it is a possibility that his daughter may have met and married a Daniels while in Virginia.? John and Eliza named their first son William (although that could have been after William Causey) and their second son Josiah.? Neither of those names are in Eliza's immediate tree.? His first daughter was named Sarah, his second daughter was named Nancy, and his third daughter was named Elizabeth (more than likely after her mother.)? Family lore is that Sarah was named after John's mother, but we haven't been able to find any information on a "Sarah Causey."

I know this is a long shot, but I am reaching out anywhere possible to see if someone has a John M. Daniels in their family history that fits my John M. Daniels.

I have tested with Ancestry and uploaded to Gedmatch and FTDNA, although I don't have any idea how to make use of the DNA testing.

Thank yoiu,
Wendy Lovgren (Acton, CA)
