1. Prepare the Strawberries: Preheat the oven to 350¡ãF (175¡ãC). Grease and flour two 8-inch round cake pans. Puree 1 ? cups of fresh strawberries in a
blender or food processor and set aside.
2. Make the Cake Batter: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter and
sugar together until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract and pureed strawberries.
3. Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, alternating with the sour cream and milk, beginning and ending
with the flour. Stir until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
4. Bake the Cake: Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and smooth the tops. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the
center comes out clean. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
5. Prepare the Frosting: In a mixing bowl, beat the butter until creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar, beating until smooth. Add the pureed strawberries,
vanilla, and salt, and mix until fully incorporated.
6. Assemble the Cake: Place one cake layer on a serving plate and spread a generous amount of frosting on top. Place the second layer on top, then frost
the top and sides of the cake with the remaining frosting.
7. Serve: Garnish with fresh strawberries if desired, and serve chilled or at room temperature.
