IC-PW1 configuration in DXLabCommander

One is from IC-7600 (REMOTE terminal) to CT-18 to connect to PC. The other is to connect IC-7600 and PC with USB cable.
Is this connection method not acceptable?

No, it is not. For DXLab Suite to control a PW-1 you must use the
following configuration:

As shown in the attached figure, the PC is connected to the IC-7600 and the IC-PW1.
I cannot control IC-PW1 well in this condition.

You will need a second CIV connection path for DXLab Commander running in the computer to communicate with the PW1.? Do you have a second CT-18 or other way to connect your computer to the PW1??

See the connection diagram in this article.

Thank you, Dave.

IC-PW1 address at 74(DXLab's “Controlling an Icom PW1 Amplifier” instructs to set the address of IC-PW1 to 74.).

IC-7600 address at 7A.

IC-7600 controls IC-PW1 perfectly.

A direct connection between transceiver and amplifier is not supported
by DXLab Suite. If you are using that connection, please seek help
from Icom or one of the Icom support lists.

My explanation was not adequate.
As shown in the attached diagram, the PC is connected to the IC-7600 and IC-PW1.
In this state, IC-PW1 cannot be controlled well.

+ The PW1 fails to comply with Icom's CI-V bus specification. Like the Ethernet, the collisions can occur on the CI-V bus. However, the PW1 does not properly detect and recover from collisions.

+ With an Icom transceiver connect to a PW1 via a CI-V bus, no collisions occur.

+ With an Icom transceiver connected to a PW1 and a PC Com port managed by a transceiver control application like Commander, collisions can occur. Because it does not properly handle collisions, the PW1 can transmit on the wrong frequency, which can result in serious damage to the PW1. This is described in detail in this document developed by Larry K8UT:

+ Commander's Secondary Com port enables provides a dedicated CI-V bus for the PW1 on which no collisions can occur, thus preventing damage to the amplifier. It has been successfully employed by many PW1 users.

As noted by Joe, W6TV, Dave AA6YQ, and myself W6DE, you can not share a single CIV connection with both a 7600 and a PW1 on that single CIV connection.?

Dave, AA6YQ is telling you the PW1 does not behave properly on a CIV connection and you need a separate CIV connection to only the PW1 from your computer to your PW1 to properly handle the bad behavior from the PW1.

+ That configuration is not supported because it does not prevent the PW1 from encountering CI-V bus collisions, which can mangle frequency packets and cause the PW1 to transmit on an unexpected frequency.? Dave W6DE will help you establish the correct connectivity and configure Commander appropriately.

I have been working directly with Shige on this matter.? Shige did get DXLab Commander installed and working directly with his PW1.? However, the absence of CIV collisions is not consistent and most time fails to work properly after shut down and a restart.? Shige has performed exhaustive tests isolating various components and re-trying shut down and start up.? But the intermittent PW1 CIV collisions persist.?

?

I believe the DXLab Commander PW1 CIV fix is working properly and there is a hardware intermittent somewhere we have been unable to detect.

Shige is going to try a different hardware solution that I am sending him.

+ If the PW1 is connected to Commander's Secondary CAT port and no other device, then the only way CI-V collisions can occur is if the PW1 transmit CI-V messages. Larry K8UT's "riding the CI-V bus" document describes the conditions under which it will do that. See section 4 in

Dave, you note: “If the PW1 is connected to Commander's Secondary CAT port and no other device, then the only way CI-V collisions can occur is if the PW1 transmit CI-V messages.

Are you saying definitively that the PW1 is never shutting up?

Could you can see this in an error log?
